Lao Cai - The province's tea industry faces many difficulties due to the impact of conflicts in the Middle East, disrupting export activities to key markets.

Faced with this reality, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee has issued a document directing the implementation of solutions to stabilize the production, processing and consumption of tea products.

On April 5, according to PV's investigation, in the short term, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee is requesting businesses and cooperatives to closely monitor market developments, proactively adjust production, purchasing, and processing plans to limit risks.

At the same time, promote domestic consumption through modern distribution systems, e-commerce platforms and retail channels; actively seek and expand new export markets to reduce dependence on the Middle East region.

In the long term, the province aims to improve the quality of raw material areas, promote the application of science and technology, and develop production according to safe and organic standards.

Businesses are encouraged to invest in deep processing, product diversification, and apply advanced quality management systems to improve value and competitiveness.

The Provincial People's Committee also assigned specific tasks to departments, branches and localities. In which, local authorities focus on mobilizing people to maintain stable raw material areas, strengthen production and consumption links with businesses.

The Department of Industry and Trade promotes trade promotion, supports consumption connection and adapts to logistics cost fluctuations. The Department of Agriculture and Environment guides production to ensure processes and control input quality.

The Department of Finance coordinates to implement support mechanisms for affected businesses and cooperatives.

Notably, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee proposed that the banking sector implement solutions such as extending, postponing debt, reducing loan interest, creating conditions to access preferential capital sources to maintain production, purchase and temporary storage of products.

Along with that, the province requested the Vietnam Tea Association to support market connection, provide information on import standards and promote the Lao Cai tea brand.

It is known that Lao Cai's main tea export market has long been countries in the Middle East such as Pakistan, Afghanistan...
