On April 5, Mr. Nguyen Trong Tan - a local tour guide in Phu Quy Special Zone said that while diving with a group of fishermen to catch fish at sea, he suddenly encountered a school of whales with a number of about 100.

According to Mr. Tan, the location where the whale herd was discovered is about 500m from Hon Tranh. Many whales continuously surfaced, swam close to the nose of the canoe and then jumped.
When hearing cheers from the canoe, schools of fish jumped on the water more crowded, creating a rare scene.

There were many local divers on the canoe, so some people directly dived into the sea to record the moment the whales moved. Despite the appearance of humans, the fish still swam normally.
Local fishermen said that encountering such a large number of whales is very rare. The captured images are lucky moments for the diving team.

Also according to Mr. Tan, on the same day, he saw 3 blue whales about 17m long swimming across the canoe. About 30 minutes later, the group continued to encounter this school of about 100 whales.
The appearance of whales near the shore is a positive sign, showing that the marine environment on Phu Quy island is clean, fresh and has abundant food sources.
Phu Quy Special Zone belongs to Lam Dong province, 56 nautical miles (about 120km) from the mainland (Phan Thiet). This island has long become an attractive destination thanks to its pristine beauty and clear blue sea.
