From March 1, 2026, in order to implement the provisions of Circular 77/2025/TT-NHNN of the State Bank on safety and security for online service provision in the banking industry, many banks have announced that they will stop providing services on devices showing signs of risk.
In which, Vietnam Foreign Trade Joint Stock Commercial Bank (Vietcombank) will stop providing VCB Digibank and VCB DigiBiz services on devices showing signs of security risks as follows:
- Use an emulator environment/debugger environment/virtual machine/emulator device to run the VCB Digibank/VCB DigiBiz application.
- Application software is inserted with code outside the application (hook) or application software is interfered with, repackaged (repacking).
- The device has been unlocked (root/jailbreak); or the protection mechanism has been unlocked (unlock bootloader).
In case of detecting equipment showing signs of suspicion of risk, customers need to perform:
Changing to another device is the original device, meeting the manufacturer's security standards.
In case of continuing to use the current device, customers need to contact the device manufacturer or the device sales/repair unit for support in checking and fixing the device's condition.
Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) also announced that it will stop providing BIDV SmartBanking services on mobile devices that do not meet safety requirements. These are mobile devices that have been unlocked for security such as root (Android), jailbreak (iOS) or unlocked bootloader, illegally inserted codes during operation or use... potentially posing a risk of unsafety for users, which can lead to fraud, money laundering, and asset loss.
To avoid interrupting transactions, customers need to proactively check the status of the device, delete root locking, jailbreak, unlock bootloader modes... or switch to using the BIDV SmartBanking application on safe devices.
Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) issued a notice to implement measures to enhance security and risk management for Mobile Banking services (including: Agribank Plus, Agribank eBanking).
In early March, the Mobile Banking system will automatically deny access to devices that do not meet security standards or show signs of potential risks, including: devices that have been rooted/jailbroken, installed system intervention software, used emulator environments or tools that may affect the safety of transactions.
To avoid interruptions in the service usage process, people proactively check and restore devices to a safe security state, ensuring they fully meet the conditions for using Mobile Banking services.
Agribank also recommends that customers raise their vigilance, regularly update security warning information from the bank's official channels; absolutely do not provide personal information, login information, OTP code or authentication data to any organization or individual in any form to prevent risks of fraud and financial fraud.
In addition to strengthening system security measures, Agribank has deployed the AgriNotify service - Detecting and warning suspicious and fraudulent accounts on Mobile Banking, helping to automatically warn when the recipient's account shows signs of risk before customers make money transfers, thereby supporting customers to proactively identify fraud risks and transact more safely.
