Quang Ngai has about 45,000 hectares of noodles ( cassava). Due to the impact of the disease of ma leaves decaying, in recent years, ma yield has been low, from 18 - 21 tons/ha. Currently, the price of fresh noodles purchased at the factory is from 1,700 - 1,800 VND/kg for noodles with 25 - 26% flour content; from 2,300 - 2,350 VND/kg for noodles with 30% flour content.
Since the beginning of September, Quang Ngai farmers have started harvesting cassava after 9 months of planting and caring, but their joy is not complete when the price of cassava suddenly drops sharply. According to records in the province's cassava growing areas, the purchase price of fresh cassava in the fields is only from 1.2 - 1.3 million VND/ton, down 700 - 850 thousand VND/ton compared to the same period in 2024.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hiep, in Ha Nhai Bac village, Son Tinh commune, said: "My family grows 2,500m2 of cassava, and has just harvested more than 5 tons. With a selling price of 1.2 million VND/ton, farmers not only do not make a profit but also suffer heavy losses".
Quang Ngai currently has 10 starch processing factories. Of which, Quang Ngai Agricultural and Food Products Joint Stock Company has 4 factories. The company's starch products are consumed in the domestic market for about 20% and exported for about 80%; of which, exports to the Chinese market account for 65 - 67%, the rest are exported through the Japanese and Korean markets.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Hai - General Director of Quang Ngai Food Agricultural Products Joint Stock Company said that the largest noodle export market, China, is currently facing difficulties due to the impact of the world economy, causing noodle prices to drop sharply. The price of flour starch has decreased by more than 30% compared to 2024, so the purchase price of raw materials has also decreased accordingly.
