Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Ms. Vo Thi Bich Le - Vice Chairman of Ba Dong Commune People's Committee - said that the commune government has just sent a document to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL), Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee to ask for opinions on whether to dismantle the Teng Village Conservation Area and promote the cultural values of the village or not. However, up to now, the commune government has not received a response.
According to Ms. Le, the reason for the proposed demolition is that the Conservation Area has seriously degraded, causing loss of aesthetics.
Before sending a document asking for opinions from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Provincial People's Committee, the commune government held a meeting with people and collected opinions from prestigious people in the community on whether to dismantle the conservation area or not. Everyone agrees that it needs to be dismantled to create a more spacious and clean campus," Ms. Le shared.

The project of the Lang Teng village cultural value conservation and promotion area, Ba Thanh commune, Ba To district (now Ba Dong commune) is being implemented on an area of 1.48 hectares, with a total investment of more than 10.5 billion VND. The project includes items such as community activity houses, traditional stilt houses, rice hutes, buffalo cages of the Hre people... and was handed over to the old Ba To district for management since 2018.
However, after only a few years of use, the reserve has seriously degraded due to ineffective exploitation and promotion. Many items were severely damaged, especially the thatched roofs of the buildings, which were torn and unsafe.
From the budget of Ba To district (before the merger), in 2024, the locality will invest about 600 million VND to restore a community house for Hre people in the reserve area. However, according to the reporter's records, many items in the Reserve are still being eroded, rotten, and tilted, posing a potential risk of insecurity.

Local people said that after being completed and put into use in 2018, the Reserve welcomed quite a lot of visitors. However, in recent years, due to the deterioration, the locality has been very hesitant when tourists visit.
In addition, due to the lack of regular caregivers and managers, many items have been severely damaged over time. Some works such as rice warehouses, buffalo cages... have been dismantled due to serious degradation.
Mr. Pham Van Lam - Head of Teng Village - said that the stilt house in the conservation area is currently degraded, and when visitors come to see it, they are very upset. The village has proposed that superiors dismantle the damaged items and support the repair of some remaining parts to create a green, clean, and beautiful landscape, contributing to attracting tourists.
