Previously, on April 3, 2026, after people's reflections on social network Facebook about the pig farm of Cao Da Son La Joint Stock Company in Cao Da 1 village, Bac Yen commune discharging wastewater into the environment.
The Economic Police Department of Son La Provincial Police has presided over and coordinated with functional units to inspect and verify the case.
Through verification, at the end of March 2026, during the maintenance of the wastewater treatment system, the enterprise discovered a water leak at the foot of the regulating lake and proceeded to repair it.
During the digging of a wastewater storage pond for construction, an excavator broke the water discharge pipe at the bottom of the regulating lake, causing wastewater to spill into the environment, down to National Highway 37 at Km417+800.
Functional agencies determined that when an incident occurred, the company did not arrange on-site forces to respond to the waste incident according to regulations. At the same time, functional units took wastewater samples to serve the appraisal and complete the treatment dossier according to regulations.
On May 26, 2026, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Son La province issued a decision to sanction administrative violations against Cao Da Son La Joint Stock Company with a fine of 120 million VND according to the provisions of point c, clause 1, Article 40 of Decree No. 45/2022/ND-CP of the Government on sanctioning administrative violations in the field of environmental protection.
