Son La - Heavy rain and prolonged thunderstorms in many localities caused 1 death due to lightning strikes, 1 injured due to fallen trees, and 19 houses had their roofs blown off.

From the afternoon of May 27 to 7 pm on May 29, localized heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong gusts of wind caused many casualties and property damage in Son La province.

According to a quick report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Son La province, on the afternoon of May 29, Mr. L. A N (born 2001), residing in Xa Nha A village, Co Ma commune, died suspected of being struck by lightning while using a mobile phone to record video during thunderstorms and lightning.

In addition, Ms. V. T. Q (born in 2000), residing in Bo 1 village, Doan Ket commune, was injured by a fallen tree in the thunderstorm.

Natural disasters also caused 19 houses to have their roofs completely or partially blown off, including Kim Bon commune with 6 houses, Doan Ket commune with 2 houses and Pac Nga commune with 11 houses.

Currently, commune authorities have mobilized local forces to support people to overcome the consequences, repair houses, and stabilize their lives. At the same time, they have sent representatives of the government to visit and encourage victims' families, monitor the health of injured people, and continue to review and statistically assess economic damage.
