Building a brand
Production according to standards such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, ... is not only a mandatory requirement from demanding import markets but also a testament to the quality and safety of agricultural products.
Understanding this importance, grasping the consumer trend of the market, Loc Hung Agricultural Cooperative (Thoi Hung commune, Can Tho city) has gradually standardized production processes. Accordingly, the entire green-skinned elephant mango cultivation area of the cooperative complies with VietGAP standards.
Instead of depending on pesticides, cooperative members apply the fruit wrapping method from a young age. Thanks to that, mangoes are not only beautiful in appearance but also have no pesticide residues, perfectly meeting export criteria.

Trang Ti Garden Cooperative (Thoi Hung Commune, Can Tho City) also applies production processes associated with green, clean, and safe standards, combined with brand building for label fruits.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Son - Director of Trang Ti Garden Cooperative - said that the cooperative currently has about 60 hectares of longan production area. Of which, 30 hectares have been granted VietGAP certification, 5 hectares are being produced organically, and especially, 20 hectares are being produced according to GlobalGAP standards.
According to Mr. Son, the certificates not only show that the cooperative is striving to meet the strict needs of imported countries and consumers, but are also a journey for Vietnamese agricultural products to build a brand, ensure reputation and quality in the world market.
The spectacular transformation
Croping according to international standards has helped many types of agricultural products "transform spectacularly", increase value, confidently reach the "big sea", conquer demanding markets.
According to Mr. Tay, if before being exported, green-skinned elephant mangoes were affected by many market impacts, sometimes only reaching 10,000 - 20,000 VND/kg, and sometimes even dropping to only 7,000 - 8,000 VND/kg, now, mango prices have also increased significantly, with farmers' profits being 20% higher than domestic consumption.
The export of green-skinned elephant mangoes from the cooperative to the US and Australian markets not only opens up new opportunities in fruit consumption but also creates strong motivation for farmers. They actively increase production, learn new techniques and better comply with strict regulations to increasingly improve the quality of export-standard mangoes, said Mr. Tay.
Similarly, being covered by Vina T&T Group for export to major markets such as the US, Australia, Japan... helps the advertising price of Trang Ti Garden Cooperative to be significantly higher than domestic consumption, and farmers' profits have improved significantly.
"The price of labels purchased for export by the company is higher than domestically. This is both a joy and an increase in the responsibility of the producer. Therefore, we will strive to produce delicious, quality longan fruits, ensuring food safety and standards set by the company, contributing to bringing Vietnamese agricultural products to higher ground and flying far in the international market, Mr. Son shared.
The Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City) said that up to now, the city has been granted 571 growing area codes with a total area of 9,383 hectares, on the main crops including mango, star apple, durian, longan (including 42 codes with an area of 135 hectares),... exported to the US, Australia, Japan, China, Thailand, EU markets.
