Export agricultural products exceed the first quarter target
According to the Department of Planning and Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery in the first quarter of the first quarter of $ 15.72 billion, up 13.1% over the same period. In particular, agricultural products 8.53 billion USD, up 12.2%; Forest products 4.21 billion USD, up 11.2%; Fisheries 2.29 billion USD, up 18.1%; Breeding products 131.3 million USD, up 18.5%; Production input 549.5 million USD, up 19.6%. According to the Director of the Department of Planning and Finance Dang Ngoc Diep: "In the first quarter of 2025, the export was relatively good, nearly 4.4 billion USD".
According to information from the Department of Plant Protection and Plant Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), for key agricultural products, the Department has developed and implemented a series of plans to support growth. In particular, the litchi is expected to enter the harvest itself from the end of May to the beginning of June.
Although the export output to the US market is not large, the Department has worked with the US animal and animal quarantine agency (APHIS) to check the conditions at production facilities. This is aimed at taking advantage of the 90 -day "golden -time window" of the US postponed tariff policies to support export enterprises.

However, some items are still facing difficulties. Durian is expected to be harvested on an area of about 650,000 ha in the second quarter, mainly in the Mekong Delta, Southeast and part of the Central Highlands.
As for pepper, the time of harvest will fall in June. However, many domestic and foreign businesses are currently concerned about the US tariff policy.
The representative of the Plant Protection and Plant Protection Department proposed that the authorities continue to negotiate to keep the basic tax rate for agricultural products, because the US and Vietnam do not have the direct competition for these products.
Facing the challenges of Vietnamese agricultural products in export, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien noted the role of production protection must be placed in parallel with the goal of growth and export.
In the field of fisheries, the total output reached nearly 2 million tons, of which the farming output increased by 5.1%. Particularly pangasius and shrimp - two key exports increased by 5.1% and 5.5% respectively.
The forestry industry recorded many positive results with more than 49,000 hectares of new planted forests, up 12.6%; exploited timber production reached over 4.3 million m³, up 16.6%; Collecting more than 836 billion dong of forest environmental service, up 9.1% over the same period last year.
Focus on the market
Entering the second quarter of 2025, the whole industry sets to accelerate production, sticking to the scenario of growth in the whole industry. Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien affirmed: "The focus of 2025 is growth and export. The goal of the whole industry is to achieve a 4%agricultural GDP growth, agricultural export turnover reaches 65 billion USD and strive to reach 70 billion USD."
The market continues to be a great priority in the second quarter. The Ministry will continue to deal with market issues to create favorable conditions for the export of agriculture, forestry and fishery to large markets: China, the United States, Japan, the EU ... and open new markets, and many potentials such as: Halal Muslim countries, Middle East, Africa ...

Take advantage of ftas, especially CPTPP, EVFTA agreements to promote the export of key agriculture, forestry and fishery products, support businesses to sign new export orders ...
For fastidious markets such as Europe and Germany, it is necessary to focus on deep processing, improving added value and standardizing products to meet the strict requirements from international customers.
