Shopping center packed with customers
Proactively preparing goods sources to serve the increased demand during the holidays, many supermarkets in Hanoi have increased their inventory. Some product groups have increased supply by 130%-200% compared to normal days, and at the same time implemented many promotional programs to stimulate shopping demand.
At noon on August 30, recorded at AEON Ha Dong supermarket (Hanoi), the shopping atmosphere was bustling, the dining area was packed with customers.
In the supermarket area, customers continuously choose food, household appliances, clothes and essential items.
Stalls are full, while promotional signs with red and yellow colors appear densely in the fashion, dried food, vegetable, fruit... areas, creating more attraction for shoppers.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Trang (Tay Mo ward, Hanoi) said that this year's holiday, her family did not go far but chose to have fun in Hanoi. On this occasion, she brought relatives from Quoc Oai to the shopping center so that the whole family could both eat, drink, play, and take advantage of shopping.
Pushing the car full of goods towards the checkout counter, Ms. Trang said that she had spent nearly 2 million VND, mainly buying food to serve her family during the holidays.
Food, green vegetables, and fruits all have many promotions. Some items are discounted by 20%-50%, so I mainly choose products that are discounted," Ms. Trang happily said.

Also choosing to stay in Hanoi during the September 2nd holiday, Ms. Anh Tho (Cau Giay ward) said that her family did not travel because they were afraid of the crowded scenery at destinations and the high costs during the holidays. Her family chose to go to the shopping center, combining entertainment, eating and shopping.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Hung (office worker in Tu Liem ward) said that this year's holiday, he still has to go to work on Monday because he cannot take leave according to the swap plan. Therefore, he decided not to return to his hometown on this occasion.
Instead, holidays became an opportunity for him and his group of friends to meet, have coffee, eat, watch movies and shop right in the city.
Supermarkets increase promotions, essential goods are ready for the peak of September 2nd holiday
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the AEON supermarket system said that this year's National Day holiday September 2nd lasts 5 days, from August 29th to September 2nd, creating conditions for people to spend time reuniting with their families, traveling, playing and entertaining.
AEON Vietnam expects purchasing power to increase compared to the same period in 2025. Besides shopping demand for the holidays, essential items for daily life still maintain purchasing power, especially fresh food, processed food, pre-processed food, bread and pastries.
The holiday season is also approaching the new school year, so the demand for shopping for products for students is forecast to increase.
Along with preparing goods sources, discount programs are being promoted from the end of August to the beginning of September, with discounts of up to 50% and the "buy 1 get 1 free" program, applied to many household and storage items such as pans, pots, food containers, sockets...
Many retail systems in Hanoi also proactively prepare supply early for the peak shopping season of National Day.
Representatives of the WinMart system said that the goods supply plan has been built and implemented with suppliers from 2 months before the holidays, based on purchasing power forecasts in each region. On this occasion, this supermarket system also implements preferential programs such as deep discounts, buy 1 get 1 free, buy 2 get 1 free... to stimulate consumer demand during the holidays.
Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Retailers Association commented: Promoting promotions in the current period not only helps people reduce spending pressure but also creates motivation for businesses to increase revenue, release inventory and expand the market.
As purchasing power improves, stimulus activities will become one of the important factors contributing to promoting trade growth in the second half of 2026," Ms. Lan emphasized.
