The decline in mango prices has caused many gardeners in the mango capital Dak Nong to suffer heavy losses. Mr. Nong Van Loc's family, in Cao Lang village, Dak gan commune, cultivates 1ha of mango. This year, thanks to favorable weather, the mango garden is highly productive.
More than half a month ago, my family harvested a portion of the output and sold it for 7,000 VND/kg. However, for the remaining 70% of the output when harvested, traders only pay a price of 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg.
In previous years, traders have purchased at an average price of over VND15,000/kg (the lowest is also from VND7,000 - VND8,000/kg). Thus, the price of mangoes this year has decreased significantly compared to many previous years.

Discussing this, Mr. Loc calculated that this year's mango crop is considered by his family to be unprofitable. chua ever been a year when mango prices have fallen as much as this year. Every year, even though the price is low, after deducting expenses, the family still earns more than 100 million VND. This year, the cost has increased, if we sell all the gardens, we can only get rid of the capital" - Mr. Loc said sadly.
Similarly, the 2ha green and red Taiwanese mango garden, with an output of about 40 tons of Mr. Vi Van Dat in Dak Gan commune, has not been fully consumed. Mr. Dat said that the price of mangoes is currently too low - green Taiwanese mangoes are only 1,000 VND/kg, while red mangoes have no buyers.
This season, his family has invested hundreds of millions of VND to take care of the mango garden, but at this price, it is difficult to recover the capital.
"After more than ten years of making mangoes, my family has never encountered such a situation. Selling a quintal of mangoes can sometimes only be enough to buy a few kicks of rice, Mr. Dat said in a sour tone.

According to statistics, the whole Dak gan commune has about 1,000 hectares of mango, with an average yield of about 20 tons/ha. In previous years, mangoes brought high economic efficiency to people thanks to their productivity, quality and good prices.
However, this year, mango growers are suffering heavy losses due to the disastrous price drop. Currently, Taiwanese mangoes are only at 1,000 - 3,000 VND/kg, the lowest level in the past 10 years.
Currently, the whole commune still has about 500 tons of red Taiwanese mango that have not been consumed. Mr. Hoang Duc Lam, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Dak gan commune, said: "The price has dropped miserably, hundreds of tons of mango are still waiting for buyers. The efforts and capital of farmers are gradually being eroded every day".
