For many days, the gloomy atmosphere has covered the mango gardens in Cam Hoa commune, Cam Lam district - considered the largest Australian mango growing area in Khanh Hoa.
Mangoes are in full bloom but have no output, prices have dropped so much that people have to let the roots fall off to make fertilizer.
Mr. Dinh Van Minh (68 years old, Lap Dinh 1 village, Cam Hoa commune) said that his family has more than 1 hectare of Australian mango, but traders only pay 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg - the price is not enough to cover the cost of fertilizer and care.
"I called many contacts but they said they could not export, and I didn't know who to sell to. The mangoes started to lose their roots, it was a pity but it had to endure, said Mr. Minh.

Not only farmers, but also purchasing warehouses are facing difficulties. Mr. Huynh Long Hung - a trader specializing in purchasing mangoes in Cam Lam - said that his plantation used to consume 7-8 tons/day, now there are only about 3-4 tons, the price has dropped to the bottom.
Australian exporters mainly export to China, but their partners there do not buy goods, and the domestic market also consumes very slowly, Mr. Hung shared.
While waiting for traders, some households have proactively tried to find an outlet. Some people have posted online sales, inviting customers to access the picking garden online to experience. Thanks to this method, some households have consumed mangoes.
According to statistics from the People's Committee of Cam Lam district, the locality currently has about 1,800 tons of Australian mangoes that have not been consumed. The locality is coordinating with units and enterprises inside and outside the province to purchase and support the consumption of remaining mangoes.
Meanwhile, the Farmers' Association of Khanh Hoa province has sent an official dispatch to the Khanh Hoa Young Entrepreneurs' Association to call on businesses and consumers to support mango products for farmers.
At the same time, an official dispatch was sent to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to support calling on the Farmers' Unions of provinces and cities to consume Australian mangoes in Cam Lam. The Farmers' Association encourages mango makers to maintain brand building and keep the Cam Lam Australian mango brand.
In the context of a difficult export market, many people expect domestic distribution channels and support solutions from authorities to help farmers overcome the failed mango crop.
