No longer limited to compact products, e-commerce (e-commerce) is gradually meeting the shopping needs for bulky commodity groups such as sofas, beds, cabinets, electronics and large-sized household appliances. The convenience in searching for and comparing products, combined with increasingly complete delivery and installation solutions, is encouraging consumers to choose to shop online more for this commodity group, thereby opening up new growth space for brands and sellers.
As online shopping carts become more diverse
Vietnamese e-commerce is entering a deep growth phase. Besides shopping more frequently, users are also gradually expanding their choices to high-value industries and previously heavily dependent on traditional retail channels.

This trend is relatively clearly shown in the furniture industry. According to public data from ECDB, an e-commerce market analysis company based in Germany, online revenue in the Vietnamese furniture industry reached 1.85 billion USD in 2025, an increase of 10-15% compared to the previous year. Mordor Intelligence also identified online as the fastest growing furniture distribution channel in Vietnam, with a compound annual growth rate expected to reach about 13.35% by 2031.
On the e-commerce platform Shopee, demand for furniture, electronics, and large-sized household appliances also recorded notable changes.
In the first half of 2026, the average daily order volume of large-size products ( bulky goods) increased nearly double compared to the same period last year. This trend is particularly clear in the furniture industry, with the average daily order volume also recording similar growth, showing that users' online shopping carts are increasingly expanding.
Not only buying familiar electronic goods online such as TVs and refrigerators, users are gradually choosing more large-sized products such as sofas, rubber mattresses, beds and cabinets. This change comes from the online shopping experience increasingly better meeting the needs that are inherently barriers to bulky goods groups, from searching for diverse designs, consulting product information to comparing choices before deciding to buy.
E-commerce infrastructure is ready for sellers to access new growth opportunities
Operation is one of the big problems when trading in large-sized furniture, electronics and household appliances in e-commerce. The size, weight and specific characteristics of each product make the processing and delivery process more complicated than ordinary goods. Therefore, the development of specialized operation solutions for bulky goods not only helps remove barriers in the online trading process, but also creates conditions for this industry group to expand on e-commerce platforms.
To meet this requirement, Shopee has implemented the Bulky Goods transportation method for some products and industries that meet the applicable conditions on size and transportation characteristics. These orders are received and processed in the delivery process on the platform. In addition, Shopee provides additional options for sellers to proactively transport goods with special sizes or manufactured according to requirements.
Recently, the exchange has added products to the list of products supported for transportation under the Bulky Goods method, including most industries with large-size products such as beds, wardrobe cabinets, washing machines, baby strollers, car and motorbike seats, building materials... At the same time, Shopee also launched the Delivery++ solution, providing home installation services in areas of application in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
This solution aims to remove barriers when purchasing large-sized products such as difficult transportation, installation or needing to arrange a suitable delivery time. Accordingly, the floor will coordinate with shipping partners to deliver goods to your home. Users can also proactively choose a suitable delivery time, and schedule installation support according to their needs. The service is currently available to certain sellers and is expected to be expanded in the near future.
For sellers, this shift opens up opportunities to develop more product portfolios and reach buyers outside of traditional distribution. Especially for small and medium-sized furniture, electronics and household appliance sellers, e-commerce helps businesses expand markets, introduce products to more customer groups, and test demand for new product lines.
Besides the operational problem, fully conveying product information is also an important factor when bringing bulky product groups to the online environment. Through Shopee Live, Shopee Video, chatbots and AI and automation tools, sellers can introduce products more vividly and in detail. Important information when selecting this product group, such as size, material, function or layout in living space, can now be more visually conveyed right on the digital platform, helping buyers have more basis for making decisions.
Changes in shopping behavior and the improvement of the e-commerce ecosystem are expanding access and online business for more industries, including high-value, large-sized and complex operating requirements product groups. This is the foundation for brands and sellers to seize growth opportunities in the second half of 2026, unlocking more business potential in the online environment.
