Prioritizing high-tech agricultural projects
On September 11, the inter-sectoral working group inspected the field of projects converting dead and underdeveloped rubber planting areas to other projects and sent a report to Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction.
Over the past time, public opinion has been concerned about the efficiency of land use for thousands of hectares of rubber in border areas, mainly concentrated in communes such as Ia Mo, Ia Puch, Ia Pia...
To avoid the risk of waste and loss in land resource use, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee decided to establish an inter-sectoral working group to go to the field, survey and assess the situation of projects, and propose changes in land use purposes.
According to the inter-sectoral working group, through inspection results at 10 investors, there are 29 projects proposed for conversion with an area of 12,693.84 ha.
The working group orients prioritizing the development of high-tech agricultural regions, focusing on linking with production and product consumption chains.
At the same time, assess energy projects based on their conformity with the National Power Plan, grid connection capacity...
Accordingly, the working group proposed that the Provincial People's Committee implement 18 projects with an area of 10,439.57 ha. High-tech agricultural projects have 5 projects; agro-forestry combined projects 2 projects; short-term agricultural projects 2 projects; energy projects 1 project; livestock projects 8 projects.
Pig farm projects must be in accordance with planning and ensure the environment
Notably, in Ia Pia and Ia Puch communes, businesses proposed to invest in up to 9 pig farming projects from converted rubber land.
The working group agreed that 8/9 projects are already in the livestock planning. The current status of this area is mainly sandy soil, grasslands, shrubs, scattered... The Provincial People's Committee will consider and direct these conversion projects.
However, for livestock farm projects, in addition to being in accordance with planning, it is necessary to consider environmental factors, waste treatment technology, as well as appropriate livestock density.
Previously, regarding the issue of livestock breeding, the Gia Lai Provincial Sub-Department of Environmental Protection commented that some areas such as Ia Lau and Po To communes currently have very high livestock density, reaching about 6-7 livestock units (DVVN) per 1 ha of agricultural land.
Although considering the entire province, the livestock density is still within the permissible limit according to regulations, not exceeding 1 VNA per 1 ha of agricultural land, but the concentration of too many livestock facilities in some localities is at risk of exceeding the environmental load capacity.
