In the face of storm No. 3 (storm Yagi) making strong landfall in many provinces and cities in the Northern region of Vietnam and causing a lot of damage, telecommunications companies have coordinated to deploy free mobile roaming services.
A representative of Viettel network said that on the afternoon of September 7, in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, telecommunications infrastructure was affected after the storm, causing many areas to be unable to ensure communication. To overcome this situation, Viettel and Mobifone have completed their coordination to deploy a free mobile roaming service.
With this coordination, subscribers of other mobile networks can be automatically connected to make calls and send SMS messages on Viettel's infrastructure in areas where that mobile network has information interruptions and vice versa.
MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation is also actively preparing both human and material resources, ready for flood and storm prevention and information rescue work before super typhoon Yagi.
The Corporation has agreed on a storm prevention plan, implemented according to the principle of "Four on-site" (on-site command - on-site forces - on-site means and materials - on-site logistics), "three readiness" (proactive prevention - timely response - urgent and effective recovery); Set up a team to directly inspect storm prevention work in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, etc.
In addition, MobiFone has reviewed all storm prevention plans, ensuring infrastructure safety, technical and business network safety; Checking 100% of station infrastructure (especially high masts) in key coastal areas, Node stations in provinces located in the storm's eye (Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh); Refueling, ensuring 100% of backup generators are ready to operate in case of grid power outage; Conducting safety checks on infrastructure of branches, stores, and stations at locations at risk of local flooding; Preparing emergency generators to serve business operations and support customers.
In particular, with the creation of free mobile roaming, MobiFone subscribers can now share the waves of other networks.
Roaming between carriers is done automatically, without any action from the customer, and will be maintained until the carriers fully restore the network.
Meanwhile, a representative of the VinaPhone network also said that the unit is implementing roaming in some districts in the two provinces of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong to ensure service in heavily affected areas.
Power grids in coastal provinces of Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Lang Son, Hai Duong, Hung Yen are being cut off in many areas. To ensure stable operation of the telecommunications network, units under VNPT have maintained generators ready for rescue.
