Ho Chi Minh City - Gardeners in Ho Chi Minh City are entering the peak period, overcoming rain and sun, taking care of each pot of flowers in time to go to the market to serve Tet 2026.

Lunar New Year 2026 is approaching, flower gardens in Ho Chi Minh City are busy taking care of each pot of flowers to bloom in time, regardless of erratic rain and sunshine and pest and disease attacks. This is the peak time in the flower care process.

According to Lao Dong reporters' records in Thoi An flower village (Thoi An ward), many farmers are diligently planting and caring for tens of thousands of chrysanthemums, marigolds, and gladiolus trees amidst erratic rainy and sunny weather.

Ms. Trinh Thi Kim Lan, a long-time flower grower in Thoi An, shared: "This time is the peak season to pick flowers, especially large chrysanthemums, small flowers must be discarded and large flowers must be raised. If you don't take care of them in time, the flowers will not bloom on time for Tet. At this time, we have to mobilize enough workers, sometimes more than a dozen people to work together to ensure progress.

This year, gardeners have to face more difficulties than in previous years. Heavy rain causes cotton to die, pests and diseases attack strongly, and increased input material prices make farmers even more vat va.

Cold weather also forces growers to fertilize more, keep the plants healthier to ensure sufficient nutrients. Ms. Lan said: "When farming, no matter how rainy or sunny, it must be done, it must be on schedule for flowers to bloom on time for Tet.

This year, the flower output of Ms. Lan's family is only about 5,000 pots, down more than half compared to previous years due to economic difficulties and reduced purchasing power. Traders this year are also fewer, mostly selling retail on their own, not pre-ordered, and it will take about 15–20 December to start ordering. If traders take a small amount, gardeners will sell directly at parks and double-track streets, both wholesale and retail.

Another issue that worries Thoi An gardeners is the registration of Tet flower selling points. "Every year at this time, we have registered sales points in parks and residential areas, but this year there is still no specific announcement, so it is very difficult to calculate the output to sell," a gardener said.

Despite the difficult situation, gardeners still hope that flowers will be sold a lot, trees will develop well, in return for the hard working days in harsh weather. “We hope that Tet 2026 flowers will be sold a lot, trees will grow well, so that the efforts of taking care of them throughout the rainy and sunny season will be rewarded,” Ms. Lan shared.

With unremitting efforts, Ho Chi Minh City gardeners are urgently preparing fresh, colorful flower pots, contributing to making the Tet atmosphere more bustling and joyful for people.
