Agribank increases interest rates
According to Lao Dong on November 15, the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) continued to raise deposit interest rates for terms, with an increase of 0.2%/year for terms of 1-5 months and an increase of 0.1%/year for terms of 6-36 months.
The online deposit interest rate table at Agribank records the following changes:
1-2 month interest rate increased by 0.2 percentage points, at 2.4%/year.
3-5 month interest rate increased by 0.2 percentage points, at 2.9%/year.
Interest rate for 6-9 months increased by 0.1 percentage point, at 3.6%/year.
12-18 month interest rate increased by 0.1 percentage point, at 4.8%/year.
24-month interest rate increased by 0.1 percentage point, at 4.9%/year.
Among the Big4 state-owned banks (including Agribank, BIDV, VietinBank, Vietcombank), Agribank stands out with 5 increases in deposit interest rates in just the last 4 months, with 2 increases since the beginning of November. The remaining three banks have kept deposit interest rates unchanged for the past 7 months.
Nam A Bank increases interest rates
On the same day, Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Nam A Bank) also adjusted interest rates at some terms.
Nam A Bank's deposit interest rate table records the following changes:
1-2 month interest rate increased by 0.7 percentage points, at 4.5%/year.
3-month interest rate increased by 0.6 percentage points, at 4.7%/year.
4-5 month interest rate increased by 0.5 percentage points, at 4.7%/year.
Interest rate for 10-11 months increased by 0.1 percentage point, at 5.3%/year.
36-month interest rate increased by 0.2 percentage points, at 5.9%/year.
With this adjustment by Nam A Bank and Agribank, 9 banks have increased interest rates since the beginning of November, including Nam A Bank, IVB, Viet A Bank, VIB, MB, Agribank, Techcombank, ABBank and VietBank. Of which, Agribank is the only bank to increase interest rates twice this month.
