QR Code exceeds 337 million transactions
Information at the Workshop " QR code payment: transparency and unlimited experience" on the afternoon of November 19, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Director of the Payment Department, State Bank of Vietnam provided many impressive figures in transactions via QR codes.

In the first 9 months of this year, QR Code transactions reached more than 337 million transactions with a value of VND 288,000 billion (up 61.63% in quantity and 150.67% in value).
Recognizing the positive impact of cashless payments in general and QR Codes in particular on the consumption of goods and services, Mr. Nguyen Duc Le - Deputy Head of the Market Management Department, Domestic Market Management and Development Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade said that QR codes are considered a convenient, popular and reliable tool.
"In terms of convenience, people only need a smart device to be able to make transactions. For businesses, especially small businesses such as coffee shops or bakery stores, the investment cost to receive money via QR code is very low, just print the code to receive payment" - Mr. Le said.
According to Mr. Le, paying with QR Codes also helps increase the speed of goods exchange, especially for small-scale goods, because sellers do not have to prepare a set of change to return to customers.
Digital payments reduce the burden on business households
At the discussion session, many issues were raised, including whether upgrading payment methods to QR transfer and QR payment is a barrier to shaping taxpayers and managing taxable revenue.
Responding to this issue, Mr. Mai Son - Deputy Director of the Tax Department, Ministry of Finance - said that the reality of the "60-day and night campaign" shows that businesses need closed solutions, from accounting software, tax declaration tools to payment methods such as bank transfer, QR code scanning, etc.

However, Mr. Mai Son affirmed that all forms of payment must be based on clear legal regulations, suitable to reality and stemming from the real needs of taxpayers.
Looking from the perspective of taxpayers, the Deputy Director of the Tax Department stated: "In a fair and transparent society, economic activities will also develop similarly. For businesses that are more favorable when used to the non-cash payment system (TTKDTM), the law stipulates that the use of invoices and TTKDTMs is from 5 million VND/incident. For small traders and small business households, there are currently many forms of payment, including payment QRs, helping businesses no longer have to manage and record books manually, and at the end of the day, they can determine cash flow".
Mr. Mai Son expressed: "This is a platform to help State management agencies create support, transparency and fairness in business activities through public transactions".
Aiming at connecting and synchronously exploiting national databases, the tax sector will allow automatic declaration suggestions, reduce compliance time and costs, especially for business households and micro enterprises.
From the perspective of State management agencies, in order to identify business households and enterprises with signs of violations in trading and using illegal invoices, it is necessary to have connections and sharing - which have been stipulated in the Law on Tax Administration, the Law on Credit Institutions, ... to help protect goods sources, consumers, production input, and service business.
Representatives of the Tax Department and the Ministry of Finance emphasized that they are ready to cooperate with solution providers to introduce to business households and enterprises, minimize compliance costs, and promote strong development of the private economy.
