On the afternoon of September 8, at the regular press conference in September organized by the Propaganda Department of Quang Ninh City Party Committee in Ha Long ward, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hanh, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh City Department of Agriculture and Environment, provided information on sea surface planning and the results of allocating sea areas for aquaculture.
According to the report, the sea area for aquaculture has been integrated into the Quang Ninh Provincial Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, which is 45,146ha.
In the process of adjusting the planning, the Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the Department of Finance and localities to propose updating, adjusting, and supplementing 94,456.85ha, raising the total planned sea farming area of the whole city to 139,602.85ha.
The additional area proposed is in Mong Cai 1, Mong Cai 2, Mong Cai 3, Vinh Thuc, Quang Ha, Cai Chien, Duong Hoa, Dong Ngu, Hai Lang, Cam Pha and Van Don.
The report also mentioned a project to concentrate marine aquaculture in an industrial, modern direction, including 5 farming areas in Van Don, Co To, Cai Chien and Vinh Thuc.
Currently, departments and sectors are coordinating with localities to review and complete planning maps to serve management work.
Regarding the results of sea area allocation, accumulated to August 31, 2026, Quang Ninh has allocated 4,692.19ha to 57 organizations and 517.66ha to 807 individuals for aquaculture.
In August, aquaculture output is estimated at 12,820 tons, an increase of 34.9% compared to the same period. Accumulated in the first 8 months of the year, output is estimated at 90,604 tons, equal to 66.7% of the annual plan.
