The event is part of the program to simultaneously inaugurate PTNT schools in border communes connected online nationwide (with the central bridge point at Muong Khuong PTNT School - Lao Cai).

This is also the first completed border school of Lai Chau province according to the policy of investing in developing education in border areas of the Party and State.

Modern campus in the Northwest border

The Petrovietnam - Phong Tho PTNT TH&THCS School project was started on August 19, 2025 with a total investment of 280 billion VND. Of which, Petrovietnam sponsored 245 billion VND, the remaining capital from the local budget and socialization to serve site clearance and power line relocation.

The project is built on an area of about 6.15 hectares, with a total construction floor area of about 27,098 m2, including 30 theoretical classrooms, 16 subject classrooms, administration building, library, student dormitory, dining hall, cultural activity area, multi-purpose building, swimming pool, teacher dormitory and synchronous auxiliary items.

In the 2026 - 2027 school year, the school enrolled 1,050 students, including 490 primary school students and 560 secondary school students; including 860 boarding students and 190 semi-boarding students.

With outstanding efforts of the construction force and close coordination between Petrovietnam and local authorities, the project has completed 100% of the volume, promptly put into use before the new school year. The school meets the scale of studying and boarding for about 1,050 ethnic minority students in the Phong Tho border area.

In particular, besides the spacious school project, Petrovietnam has awarded a STEM classroom sponsorship plaque to the school. This is a meaningful additional sponsorship gift to help ethnic minority students access modern science and technology. Affirming social and cultural responsibility of Petrovietnam

Looking back at the development journey, besides the task of production and business and ensuring national energy security, Petrovietnam always considers social security as an important pillar in the sustainable development strategy. In the period 2020 - 2025, Petrovietnam has implemented social security work at a record level of 5.13 trillion VND with many large programs such as "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses", "Overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and storms"... and implemented the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam education program with over 100 STEM rooms nationwide (including 3 STEM rooms in Lai Chau province that were handed over from the beginning of 2026).

In Lai Chau province, Petrovietnam and its member units have implemented many practical programs such as: building education items at Nung Nang Primary and Secondary School; Ta Ngao Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School; Boarding House of Pa U Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School; supporting disaster recovery, giving Tet gifts to poor households, giving gifts to border guards...

The completion and commissioning of the first border school of Lai Chau province on the National School Opening Day not only thoroughly solves the needs for studying and semi-boarding for highland students, improves the quality of education, but also contributes to consolidating socio-economic development, maintaining security and national defense in the border area.

The event is a vivid proof of Petrovietnam - National Industry - Energy Group's commitment to fulfilling social responsibility, accompanying the government and people of ethnic minorities in remote and isolated areas, realizing the core values of Petrovietnam's corporate culture: Affection - Aspiration - Wisdom - Professionalism.
