On August 19, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested individuals and businesses to coordinate in declaring and updating data on planting area codes and durian packaging facility codes for export to the Chinese market on the Agricultural Product Traceability System.
Along with Dak Lak, Gia Lai is one of the largest durian growing regions in the country. Over the past time, durian prices have been stable, helping people and businesses to purchase agricultural products for export with good profits.
In addition to coffee, passion fruit, bananas, rubber, and durian are considered key fruits, making significant contributions to Gia Lai's agricultural export activities.
Therefore, the province requires each batch of fresh durian exported to China to have dossiers and data suitable for each stage, which can be traced back to the growing area, packaging facility, subjects and each stage in the production, purchasing, and processing process.
People, businesses, cooperatives... need to raise awareness about the benefits and importance of traceability, especially for exported durian products.
On July 11, 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Department of Customs of China signed a Protocol on plant quarantine requirements for durian fruit exported from Vietnam to China.
Accordingly, all durian growing areas exported to China must meet the requirements for traceability.
In case it does not meet the requirements of the Protocol, the shipment may be refused import; the growing area or packaging facility may be temporarily suspended from export.
