First trial flying taxi in Singapore

    The flying taxi was first tested in Singapore on October 22 and is expected to be put into use in the next 2 years.

    The flying taxi has 18 fans, similar to a drone, developed by German company Volocopter. The taxi took off from a cape and flew around Marina Bay, Singapore for about 2 and a half minutes.

    Although flying taxis are equipped with technology such as drones to be able to fly autonomously, Volocopter has arranged a pilot during the testing process for safety reasons.

    Volocopter's flying taxi can carry two people for about 30km. According to Straits Times, flying taxis are designed specifically for city missions and can carry 160kg.

    Volocopter has tested flying taxis in Helsinki (France), Las Vegas (USA), Dubai (UAE) and many other places in Germany, but the test in Singapore is the first test in the center of a city.

    flying taxi manufacturers hope that this technology will help reduce air pollution caused by traffic in big cities and revolutionize travel in the future.

    We aim to bring taxis to Jakarta, Manila and Bangkok because they have a huge demand. India and China are the same, said Volocopter CEO Florian Reuter.
