Be careful with the current stock bottom-fishing game

Stock investors are going through a series of trading days with unpredictable scenarios and increased risks.

The Vietnamese stock market is going through an unpredictable period when the decline is getting stronger and spreading. Reversals that lost strong points in the trading session reflected investors' concerns.

From a short-term peak, the VN-Index has "evaporated" by more than 173 points, equivalent to nearly 10%, retreating to around 1,617 points. However, demand is still weak even though there are times when bottom-fishing cash flow appears and selling pressure is still overwhelming.

Experts say that the main reason is that positive information such as positive business results in the third quarter of 2025, expectations of upgrading the market, and the possibility of the US Federal Reserve (FED) lowering interest rates have all been absorbed by the market and reflected in the stock price level.

When this information was officially announced, it was no longer "heavy enough" to continue supporting prices, but on the contrary, it triggered a profit-taking wave. Especially in the group of large-cap stocks that have been a pillar of the market in recent times. Notably, the "downfall" spans at the end of the session continuously occurred, making the market trend even more unpredictable, exploiting the psychological weakness of FOMO (fear of missing opportunities) of individual investors.

And because of that, many investors trying to "catch the bottom" have suffered losses, even when stocks have not yet reached their accounts.

In the context of abundant liquidity, fluctuations at the end of the session are often absorbed quickly and leave few serious consequences. However, when liquidity declines as it is now, the lack of balanced cash flow makes it easy for small fluctuations to push the index further than normal.

Investors are also quite worried about the current market problem, which is the high margin usage rate, when selling pressure is suppressed, margin disbursement at the end of the session becomes the direct cause of the index's sharp decline.

This phenomenon is expected to continue in the short term, until the market has a large enough margin call to relieve the current tight state.

Regarding market trends, many experts believe that the VN-Index could well fall below the 1,600-point mark in the bad scenario to assess the strong support zone around 1,500-1,550 points.

Experts from AIS Securities Company expressed their view that currently, the 1,610-1,600 point area is still an important support area. If this zone is not preserved, the risk of a downtrend will increase significantly and the market may enter a deeper correction. Low market liquidity is a cause for concern.

Investors should still take advantage of technical recovery sessions to restructure and continue selling stocks with signs of weakening, thereby bringing the portfolio ratio to a safe level. Only " selectively" hold potential stocks. Do not rush to buy and chase in the technical hoi bonus if any.

Experts from CSI Securities Company also believe that there will be another session of decline to continue consolidating the previously formed correction trend and is heading towards the support zone of 1,560 points.

"We continue to maintain a cautious view, limit bottom fishing at this time, patiently wait for the VN-Index to react at the support zone around 1,560 points to start opening new buying positions," CSI experts recommend.
