On May 25, following traders buying dragon fruit in gardens in Ham Thuan Nam district, Binh Thuan province, reporters recorded a sharp decrease in dragon fruit prices. White-fleshed dragon fruit is purchased by traders in the garden with beautiful large fruits, exported at about 3,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, dragon fruit (lower in size and color than exported) is purchased at about 1,500 VND/kg. Warded dragon fruit (low quality), but traders do not buy. Meanwhile, red-fleshed dragon fruit is purchased at the highest price of about 7,000 VND/kg.
This is the end of the monsoon season, the beginning of the season, but the price of dragon fruit has dropped sharply. With this price, gardeners are struggling due to heavy losses in production costs.

According to records, many gardens have red ripe dragon fruit but the price is too low, causing some gardeners to have 2 options: anchoring in the hope of waiting for the price to increase or selling to start another generation. However, the weather is erratic and sunny and the ripe fruit is vulnerable to insect attacks, so most choose to sell quickly.

Mr. Huynh Han - a dragon fruit collector - shared that when he saw the red dragon fruit, he choked up because the price dropped miserably, if he anchored it, it was a waste, if he left it, it was a pity. So much sweat and effort of growers now suffered. I also hope that the functional sector will have a solution to stabilize prices so that gardeners can feel secure in production and no longer suffer losses.
From the beginning of 2025 to now, Binh Thuan dragon fruit accounts for more than 70% of the country's dragon fruit export output and turnover and increased by 30% over the same period last year.

The functional sector of Binh Thuan province as well as the Provincial Dragon fruit Association have promoted domestic and foreign trade to maintain the traditional market and seek new potential markets. In addition, it also calls for and mobilizes dragon fruit growers, cooperatives, and enterprises to focus on improving the quality of dragon fruit, building growing area codes, export packaging facility codes according to standards and regulations from the importing side.
In the face of unpredictable developments in the agricultural market, dragon fruit growers are still actively taking care of dragon fruit to ensure quality and productivity. The purpose is to meet the increasingly strict requirements of the market and maintain a strong brand, having a foothold in main import markets as well as sub-ranked markets through the Chinese market.
