According to the report of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV), implementing the 2024 task in the context of TKV facing many difficulties, providing enough coal for EVN's power plants is a challenge, creating great pressure for TKV in the condition that domestic coal production has decreased compared to recent years; thermal power plants receiving coal are unstable; geological conditions for mining appear to have many disadvantages, reducing coal production compared to the project and plan; obstacles in licensing for exploration and exploitation; and difficulties in recruiting miners.
The weather was erratic, especially heavily affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi). With the spirit of "Discipline - Unity", the Group quickly overcame the consequences of natural disasters, soon stabilized production and business (SXKD) and accompanied the locality to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
In 2024, TKV has basically completed its production and business targets. It is expected that in 2024, coal production will be 36.7 million tons; coal consumption will be 46.73 million tons, equal to 93.5% of the annual plan, of which coal for electricity production will be 39.46 million tons, equal to 94.9% of the annual plan; electricity production will be 9,535 million kWh, equal to 90.8% of the annual plan; revenue will be 167,250 billion VND, equal to 95.5% of the annual plan.
Contributing to the state budget in Quang Ninh 17,650 billion VND, up 10.3% compared to the plan; maintaining growth with expected profit of 6,230 billion VND, exceeding the plan by 42%; ensuring jobs and stable income for workers, especially fulfilling the political task well: ensuring sufficient coal supply for electricity production, contributing to stabilizing national energy.
Regarding the production and business plan for 2025, the Group strives to produce nearly 37 million tons of clean coal domestically, consume 50 million tons of coal (of which 42 million tons are for electricity production), with revenue of about 173,000 billion VND; and pay over 17,000 billion VND to the budget in Quang Ninh.
To achieve these goals, the Group proposes that Quang Ninh province continue to accompany TKV in reporting to the Prime Minister to allow the use of the National Energy Master Plan for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to grant licenses for mineral exploration and exploitation. At the same time, consider approving TKV to adjust the domestic coal selling price for electricity production in 2025; continue to pay attention to solving and removing difficulties in project implementation, land management procedures, some difficulties and obstacles that have existed since previous years and arising problems. Support the construction of housing for workers to attract workers.
