HCMC seeks solutions to become a high-quality service center

HCMC - Experts have contributed many presentations and shares to help the Department of Industry and Trade complete the project, moving towards developing high-end, high-value services.

On September 12, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City organized a seminar on the topic "Ho Chi Minh City - a major service center of the country and the region, with high-end, modern, high-value services: Orientation and breakthrough solutions".

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in the new context that requires rapid and sustainable development, improving competitiveness, affirming the leading role of Ho Chi Minh City, it becomes even more urgent. Although the service contributes a large proportion, the quality and qualifications have not met the demand. Especially high-end, modern service industries with high added value, still have a significant gap compared to major service centers in the region and the world.

Therefore, studying the project according to the topic of the seminar is an urgent requirement to help Ho Chi Minh City have solutions to overcome difficulties and limitations and create momentum for breakthroughs in the future.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee commented that the city has focused on directing 7 key tasks for development, including developing and implementing the project "Building Ho Chi Minh City into a major service center of the country and the region, with high-end, modern, and high-value added services". Thereby, promoting the strengths of Ho Chi Minh City in developing the service sector. However, there needs to be breakthroughs in thinking, institutions, infrastructure and human resources.

The opinions discussed and shared contribute to clarifying the potential and gaps that need to be filled so that Ho Chi Minh City can be more proactive in developing new service models; restructuring service industries on a modern technology platform... thereby contributing to completing projects.

"Developing high-quality services is not only an economic goal, but a sustainable, modern urban development strategy, with its own identity; at the same time, it is also a fundamental solution to improve competitiveness, international position, and improve the quality of life of Ho Chi Minh City people", Mr. Dung emphasized.

At the seminar, Mr. Luong Quang Thi - Ho Chi Minh City Logistics Association presented a speech with the content "Enhancing the new Ho Chi Minh City to become a Global Logistics Center: An integrated, smart and sustainable strategic roadmap for a Super Region".

Ms. Huynh Dinh Thai Linh - Director of WTC Binh Duong Company Limited - mentioned the development of the integrated urban - industrial - service model: Impact and orientation solutions for promoting the development of the high-end, modern, high-value added service sector of Ho Chi Minh City.

Some other experts also expressed their opinions, discussed, provided useful information, and suggested many strategic directions for Ho Chi Minh City in the process of developing high-quality service industries.

The comments will be compiled by the Department of Industry and Trade to complete the project, report to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee as a basis for proposing important contents and tasks for the development of the high-quality service sector in the 2026-2030 term.
