Promoting the application of AI in production
Present at the steel factory in Dong Soc Industrial Cluster, Vinh Tuong commune, Phu Tho province, reporters noted that the production system is invested in a highly automated direction. This is a factory with an area of 10.5ha, total investment of about 2,000 billion VND, designed capacity of 800,000 tons/year.
A business representative said that AI is identified as one of the important technologies in the factory operation process. The system is designed to automate almost all main stages, while integrating AI into production process monitoring and control activities.
According to a business representative, instead of just relying on manual monitoring, the AI system can support analyzing data from the operation process, identifying unusual signs and providing information for the technical department to promptly control. This technology is also expected to help businesses maintain stability between stages, limit errors and improve production efficiency.
The factory focuses on producing steel bars and smooth round coils on a continuous hot rolling line. The process uses induced furnaces combined with a high automation system.
Bringing AI into production not only aims to reduce manual operations but also towards factory-based management based on data. When parameters are continuously collected and analyzed, businesses have more basis to control quality, optimize operation and gradually improve competitiveness.
The application of modern technology is becoming a direction chosen by many industrial enterprises in Phu Tho. In June 2026, Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee coordinated with Meiko Group (Japan) to start the Meiko Yen Quang Electronic Microchip Production and Manufacturing Plant Project.
The project is implemented in Yen Quang Industrial Park, Thinh Minh commune, on an area of more than 80,000m2, with a total investment of 13,193 billion VND.
The factory focuses on producing electronic components, optoelectronics and microchips to serve high-tech equipment. The project is expected to officially operate in the second quarter of 2027 and create stable jobs for about 1,000 workers.
Industrial production increased by 21.8%
Statistics from Phu Tho province show that the IIP for the first 8 months of 2026 increased by 21.8% compared to the same period. In which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 22.3%. The electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution industry increased by 18.71%. The water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 11.97%. The mining industry alone decreased by 18.59%.
In the processing and manufacturing group, the production of electronic products, computers and optical products increased the most with 30.17%. Some other industries also increased such as metal production 11.99%, production of non-metallic mineral products 10.67%, production of beds, cabinets, tables, chairs 10.54%, and production of paper and paper products 9.74%.
Electricity production reached about 7,846.5 million kWh, up 19.5%. Cement reached 2.69 million tons, up 16.7%. Water tap production increased by 14.5%, tea increased by 14.4%, commercial electricity increased by 14.1%.
Notably, the number of workers working in industrial enterprises in August 2026 increased by 1.5% compared to the previous month and increased by 8.5% compared to the same period.
Although achieving impressive growth figures, Phu Tho Provincial Statistics believes that industrial production in the last months of the year still faces many pressures. The consumption market may decrease, while inventories tend to increase. These factors will make it difficult for businesses to maintain high growth rates. Therefore, application is not only needed in production but also needed in management to help optimize production.
