In the last days of May, the fabric area of Thanh Ha district (Hai Duong province) is entering its peak. Each cluster of fabric bearing fruit and berries signals a bumper harvest season. People, businesses, and authorities are all ready for the journey of consuming and exporting seaweed in 2025.
According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Hai Duong, the whole province currently has about 8,800 hectares of fabric, of which Thanh Ha district alone accounts for more than 3,200 hectares. Thanks to favorable weather, this year's fabric output is estimated at 65,000 tons, an increase of about 10,000 tons compared to 2024. Thanh Ha alone plans to harvest about 38,000 tons - the highest number in many years.

The harvest season is divided into two phases: early fabric starts from May 20 to June 10, peak season from September 25.5; main fabric harvest from June 10 to the end of June. Not only the output has increased, the quality of this year's fruit is also considered outstanding: the fruit is large, has beautiful designs, thick shoots, and a rich sweetness.
The highlight is that most of the fabric area is planted according to a safety procedure. Currently, the whole province has 12 regions meeting GlobalGAP standards, 56 regions meeting VietGAP, with a total area of 721 hectares. The province has also been granted 198 growing area codes, 16 packaging facility codes for export - meeting strict requirements from international markets such as Japan, the US, the EU...

Sharing about this year's fabric crop, Ms. Le Thi Anh, a long-time fabric grower in Thanh Quang commune (Thanh Ha district), excitedly said:
"My family has grown nearly 1 sample, expected to harvest more than 6 tons, the quality of the fruit is also better than in previous years. We really hope the selling price will be stable to make a profit, compensating for the previous difficult crops".
Ms. Anh also added: "We have been fully trained in techniques according to VietGAP standards, from how to use safe drugs to how to record care records. This was a bit uncomfortable at first, but now it has become a habit, feeling more secure because I make clean products for consumers".
Right from the beginning of the season, the Hai Duong agricultural sector has coordinated with localities to open dozens of technical training classes, instructing farmers to record production logs, comply with plant quarantine regulations, and use safe pesticides. At the same time, specialized agencies have increased inspection and collection of samples to monitor pesticide residues on fabric, ensuring that exported products are of high quality.
With careful preparation from production to consumption and export, Hai Duong province expects that this year's seaweed will continue to affirm its position in the domestic and international markets - not only as a delicious tropical fruit, but also a typical agricultural product with sustainable brand value.
