Orders increase
These days, at the khăn xếp making facilities in Giap Nhat craft village, Nam Truc commune, Ninh Binh province; the working atmosphere has become more urgent than ever. It is known that production facilities receive many orders from localities with festivals.
According to facility owners, the demand for folding scarves usually starts to increase sharply from near Tet and lasts throughout the festival season. On average, one facility can export hundreds of scarves per day. To ensure quality, stages from cutting fabric, sewing, folding to completion are meticulously carried out, according to traditional techniques.

Mr. Doan Van Thuy (owner of a folding scarf making facility in Giap Nhat village) said: "To have products to deliver to customers in time, my facility hires seasonal workers. On average, thousands of types of folding scarves are exported to the market every day. Customers order from many provinces and cities, so they have to balance to deliver and send goods on time.
Besides the sharp increase in the number of folding scarves exported to the market, the requirements for quality and aesthetics are also higher. Folding scarves are not only products serving rituals, but also carry traditional cultural values, reflecting solemnity in each occasion of offering incense and festivals. Traditional folding scarves are usually made of silk fabric with three basic colors: yellow, red and black. The number of folding rings depends on the age and gender of the user and the style of the scarf.
The vibrant festival season brings stable income
Not only facility owners, workers also benefit from the peak season. Thanks to abundant orders, the income of product finishing workers has increased significantly compared to normal days.

Ms. Le Thi Mai in Giap Nhat turban village shared: "Our turban makers are not short of work this season. Near Tet and during the festival season, I work more time than usual, so my income is also much higher.
According to many families attached to the khăn xếp profession for many years, the festival season accounts for the majority of revenue in the year. This is an important time to help them cover living expenses, increase working hours to have income, and accumulate for the low-lying months.
Mr. Cao Xuan Nghi - Vice Chairman of Nam Truc Commune People's Committee said that currently, there are about 450 households making turbans in the commune. Besides economic factors, the turban making profession also contributes to preserving the beauty of traditional culture in rituals. The excitement of the festival season not only brings stable income but also adds motivation for people to maintain and develop craft villages in a sustainable direction.
