Hanoi - At the age of 102, Ms. Dinh Thi Nhuong is still lucid, eagerly waiting for the day to exercise her citizenship, participate in the election of the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.

At the age of 102, Mrs. Dinh Thi Nhuong (village 2 Tien Xuan, Yen Xuan commune, Hanoi City) is still lucid and emotionally waiting for the day to hold her ballot in her hand. She is one of 6 elderly voters with limited health in the area who were given ballot boxes to their homes by the election team, ensuring the full exercise of their citizens' rights and obligations.

In just a few days (Sunday, March 15, 2026), voters nationwide will participate in the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The atmosphere of preparation for the great festival of the whole people is spreading throughout localities. This is not only an important political and legal event, but also a widespread democratic activity, where people directly express their right to mastery, entrust their faith and expectations in the future of the country.

These days, in Yen Xuan commune, Hanoi city, election preparation work is being implemented urgently and seriously. From listing voters, information about candidates to propaganda and mobilization of people to participate in voting are all implemented synchronously. The excited atmosphere is clearly visible in each residential area, from elderly people to young voters holding their ballots for the first time.

Sharing with reporters, Ms. Dinh Thi Nhuong said that although she no longer remembers clearly when she first went to vote, every election comes, she is looking forward to it. "I am very happy and touched that the State and government always care for and create conditions for elderly people like me to still be able to vote," Ms. Nhuong said. For her, the ballot is not only a right but also a responsibility, a lifelong commitment to the changes of her homeland and country. She said she will choose worthy people to entrust her trust.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Bo (born in 1957), a reputable person in Tien Xuan hamlet 2, election propaganda in the area is carried out in many flexible forms. In addition to the loudspeaker system, voter lists are posted at the village cultural house; information is also shared through Zalo community groups, integrated into daily activities and conversations of people.

Notably, there are many Muong ethnic people living in the area, so broadcasting in Muong is maintained regularly, helping people, especially the elderly, understand the meaning and process of elections. "Each ballot is a responsible choice. We hope that those elected will fulfill their commitments and bring practical development to the locality," Mr. Bo shared.

If for the elderly, elections are a continuation of lifelong civic responsibility, then for young voters, this is a memorable milestone of maturity. Chu Hong Trang (born in 2008, hamlet 5 Yen Binh) said she clearly feels the role of a citizen when participating in the election for the first time. "I will carefully learn information about candidates to choose people who are capable and responsible," Trang said.

Sharing the same feeling, Bui Bao Huy (born in 2007, Cua Khau village) expressed his excitement when exercising citizenship for the first time. Huy believes that young people's votes are voices expressing responsibility to the community and the future of the locality.

From 102-year-old women to young people just turned 18, the common point easily seen is pride and sense of responsibility when participating in the election. Each ballot put into the ballot box is not only an administrative procedure, but also a symbol of faith, of sacred rights and obligations, contributing to the success of the great people's festival.
