Within the framework of the 12th ASEAN Ministers of Finance and Governors of the Central Bank (AFMGM 12) in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang attended and spoke at a series of important dialogue conferences.
Minister Nguyen Van Thang attended three dialogue sessions with the Minister and Governor of the ASEAN Central Bank with the ASEAN - US Business Council (AFMGM - US ABC), the ASEAN - EU Business Council (AFMGM - EU ABC), and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (AFMGM - ABAC). At these forums, the Minister spoke, updated information, and presented Vietnam's viewpoints and initiatives to promote cooperation between ASEAN countries and between ASEAN and the international business community.
At the dialogue session with the ASEAN -US Business Council (US ABC), the Minister emphasized that the US taxpayer is highly corresponding to ASEAN goods as an issue that needs special attention. The Minister said that this not only harms the export of the region but also increases the costs of American and US enterprises. The Minister called on businesses at the conference to have a voice to the Government to adjust the policy, ensure the common interests for the two sides and suit the economic circumstances of each country. At the same time, Vietnam is committed to continuing to reform administrative procedures, shorten the decision -making time, ensure the synchronization and stability of legal provisions, promote economic -financial integration within ASEAN framework, contribute positively to the process of strengthening investment, trade and regional finance.
In the dialogue session with the ASEAN - EU Business Council (EU ABC), the Minister affirmed that Vietnam wishes to expand cooperation with Europe in financial management, institutions and attracting green finance. Vietnam actively participates in building the ASEAN Sustainable Finance Classification Framework (ASEAN Taxonomy), developing the carbon credit market and implementing the MRV mechanism to ensure transparency in emission management.
At the conference with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the Minister highly appreciated the role of ABAC in improving the regional supply chain capacity. Vietnam is improving the investment environment, promoting logistics infrastructure and simplifying administrative procedures, thereby increasing attractiveness in the global value chain. The Minister expressed his desire to promote cooperation with ABAC in business connection and sustainable supply chain development, especially in the field of energy, technology and smart agriculture.
On the same afternoon, at the closed session of the ASEAN Minister of Finance (AFMM Retreat), Minister Nguyen Van Thang and members discussed external economic challenges, promote trade cooperation and develop the regional domestic bond market. Vietnam has put forward many opinions and initiatives to contribute to building a sustainable ASEAN economic community.
