Electric cars contribute to the greening of the economy
A recent survey by J.D. Power on electric vehicle ownership experiences shows that 94% of electric vehicle owners (BEV) intend to continue buying electric vehicles. Notably, over the past few years, J.D. Power has conducted this research, with surprisingly consistent results: 94 - 97% of BEV owners have continuously said that they are likely to consider buying another electric vehicle for their next vehicle.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the global outlook for electric car sales is based on current policies and the target has increased to 35% by 2030, from below the previous outlook of 25%. It is expected that by 2035, the total number of electric cars in the world will reach 125 million units.
All statistics on the electric car market in recent years show that customers are moving towards "green" vehicles, making electric cars an inevitable trend worldwide. Leading companies in the auto industry have stepped up their investment in green stocks towards a sustainable future.
Electric vehicles will account for 93% of car sales in Vietnam
In Vietnam, the trend of consumers increasingly turning to electric vehicles is no exception. The sharp increase in sales in February 2025 compared to the same period last year also showed the dominance of electric vehicles in the market, showing the increasingly clear trend of electrification.
The sales of gasoline/diesel vehicles in the list of 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam in February are still far behind the sales results of three electric car models from VinFast.
In this list, VinFast VF 3 and VF 5 continue to hold the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in the market. According to VinFast's announcement, VF 6 and VF 7 achieved sales of nearly 2,000 units and more than 570 units in February, respectively, making their first appearance on the list.
Information from the World Bank (WB)'s "Breakthrough Journey: Converting to electric vehicles in Vietnam" report shows: For cars, it is expected that by 2030, 50% of urban vehicles will be available, all buses and taxis in Vietnam will be electric. By 2050, road vehicles will be completely converted to electric or green energy. This transition will reduce 5.3 million tons of CO2 emissions (equivalent to Vietnam's emission reduction target by 8%) by 2030 and 226 million tons (equivalent to 60% of the target) by 2050.
After 2035, personal cars will become a popular means of transportation in Vietnam. The WB expert expects electric vehicles to account for 93% of car sales in the period 2036-2050 in our country.
Currently, many car manufacturers around the world have been researching to launch new, modern electric car models. As the economy develops, environmental protection becomes more difficult, so the choice and use of electric cars that do not pollute the environment is even more highly appreciated.
Next is to take advantage of renewable energy and save operating costs. Current electric car models can completely take advantage of natural renewable energy sources such as solar power, wind power... to ensure a sustainable source of energy.
According to experts, the cost of maintaining the operation and maintenance of electric cars is also lower because the electric motor will be less damaged than the internal combustion engine.
