Along with pioneering the deployment of XGSPON super technology with a maximum speed of 10Gbps, VNPT affirms its position as the largest network operator in Vietnam, creating momentum to promote the creation of digital life and digital society more and more rapidly.
VNPT's new Internet speed will be increased to at least 200Mbps, applicable to customers using packages from 100Mbps or less, corresponding to an increase of over 100%. Customers using packages from 100Mbps to 150Mbps and from 150Mbps to under 200Mbps will be increased about 3 times, respectively to 300Mbps and 500Mbps. Particularly, the group of customers with packages from 200Mbps will be increased up to 5 times with the new speed reaching 1Gbps.
In areas where VNPT is deploying the super XGSPON technology, customers will also be consulted and supported to officially experience it. This is an advanced transmission line generation, the first to possess symmetrical bandwidth, supporting maximum upload and download speeds of up to 10Gbps. Compared to the old GPON technology, XGSPON speed increases up to 4 times in the download direction and 8 times in the upload direction, minimizing latency, bringing breakthrough Internet quality, unprecedented in Vietnam.
With the new Internet speed platform and XGSPON super technology, VNPT Internet will better meet the trend of using 4K, 8K content, livestreaming, gaming AR, VR, online learning, online conferences, IoT ... which are increasingly popular. This is also the foundation for expanding the application of digital technology, increasing customers' access to digital services, ensuring the ability to create and develop digital life and digital society.
The policy of increasing bandwidth and Internet speed has been continuously promoted by VNPT over the past years along with the enhancement of infrastructure and transmission technology, in line with the trend of Internet services in the world. Raising the minimum speed to 200Mbps also helps VNPT to complete the Information and Communications Infrastructure Planning. According to Decision No. 36/QD-TTg dated January 11, 2024 of the Prime Minister on "Approval of the Information and Communications Infrastructure Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050", the goal by 2025 is to ensure that 100% of households have access to fiber optic cable when needed, with 90% of users accessing fixed Internet, with an average speed of 200Mbps, 90% of socio-economic organizations such as enterprises, production and business establishments, schools, hospitals, and offices in urban areas can access the Internet with an average speed of 1Gbps.
It is expected that VNPT's Internet speed upgrade roadmap will be implemented and completed in December 2024. Customers will be automatically upgraded and have their devices changed to experience the best new speed.
