Specialized coolant water not only has the effect of heat transfer but also contains additives that help limit corrosion, form sediment and protect internal parts of the cooling system. Thanks to that, the solution maintains the necessary characteristics during engine operation.
Meanwhile, ordinary tap water does not have protective additives such as specialized solutions. In particular, if using water sources with high mineral content for a long time, minerals can contribute to the formation of sediment in the waterway and system components.
Accumulated sediment can affect the circulation of the solution and the heat transfer process. Using inappropriate water for a long time can also increase the risk of corrosion of some details inside the cooling system.
These problems usually do not appear immediately after a few water injections but may accumulate over time. When the cooling system operates ineffectively, the car may experience high engine temperature or frequent engine overheating.
In an emergency, tap water can be used for temporary icing if the car is moving and lacks coolant solution but cannot find a suitable type. But the Car Cung Motor maintenance center notes that this is only a temporary solution, but should not be used for long-term replacement.
After arriving at a safe place, the car owner should check the cooling system and determine the cause of fluid loss. When adding or replacing, it is necessary to use the correct type of coolant as recommended by the manufacturer.
In particular, do not open the radiator cap or tank cap when the engine is hot without manufacturer instructions, because hot liquid and pressure vapor can cause burns.
If the car loses abnormal coolant water, engine temperature rises, or engine heat is frequent, the car owner should check early to detect leaks and issues related to the cooling system.
