As a 3rd year student majoring in Information Systems, Can Tho University of Technology and Engineering, Hoang Nha believes that AI will significantly impact his studies as well as work in the future. However, the male student acknowledged: "AI can help perform many jobs, but cannot completely replace humans". According to Nha, with the Information Systems major, job opportunities are still quite open, so there is no need to worry too much about AI affecting career prospects.
Meanwhile, Navigos Group's 2026 Salary and Labor Market Report forecasts that many repetitive, administrative and manual jobs are at risk of shrinking or disappearing in the next 3-5 years. The positions that are most affected include electricity and water bill collectors, data entry staff, telephone marketing, bank transaction staff, cashiers, accountants, salary calculation personnel, interpreters, graphic designers, administrative assistants, secretaries and some manual production jobs.
A survey of more than 250 businesses and over 1,600 workers also shows that proactively updating digital skills, improving professional capacity and being ready to move to positions with high added value will be important factors to help workers maintain competitiveness in the AI era.
From the perspective of training institutions, Ms. Pham Thi Huong - Principal of Hanoi Industrial Vocational College said that the biggest challenge for young workers today is not only accessing technology but also the ability to apply technology to practical work.
According to Ms. Huong, many young workers have a professional background but lack in-depth digital skills, communication skills, teamwork, labor discipline and management thinking. These are the contents that training institutions need to focus on supplementing to meet the needs of businesses.
A degree is only a condition to enter the labor market, while practical ability, learning spirit and adaptability to changes in new technology are decisive factors for sustainable development in a career," Ms. Huong emphasized.
