According to Mr. Lai Van Quan (Hanoi), every summer, his wife and he take their 2 children back to their hometown to play with their grandparents for a whole month, which he jokingly calls "taking the summer break back to the retirement block". Bringing young children back to their hometown helps Mr. and Mrs. Quan feel more secure because of the care of their grandparents.
My husband and I take our children back to our hometown with grandparents every summer vacation. Every time we miss our children, we turn on the camera to watch, and we see grandparents and grandchildren playing all sorts of games, eating, drinking, and sleeping more punctually. My husband and I hope our children will have a memorable summer vacation and importantly help the children connect with their grandparents and understand more about life in their hometown" - Mr. Quan said.
According to Mr. Quan, the trend of giving children summer vacations in the countryside will help children learn to be independent, life skills and self-protection. There, children can spend a lot of time with grandparents, listen to stories about childhood, about their hometown. Participate in work suitable for their age such as watering plants, feeding chickens, picking vegetables, weeding or helping with housework.
Exploring nature while walking in the fields, watching the sunset, learning about birds, insects or taking care of plants are all beneficial activities to increase life experience and understanding for young children who are used to living in modern cities.
In particular, Mr. Quan is very excited to see his children pay attention and love to learn about folk games such as jumping rope, ô ăn quan, blindfolded goat catching, kite flying with friends in the neighborhood or learn a new skill such as cooking a country dish, fishing.
These activities help young children limit the time spent using phones and tablets to have more time to play outdoors. Therefore, give children a truly memorable summer starting from very simple things: A full family meal, an afternoon kite flying in the field or a night lying in front of the porch listening to insects chirping.
Those experiences not only help young children play but also nurture love for their homeland, know how to connect family and preserve beautiful memories with their children for many years to come.
