- My name means good luck. I find it special and represents luck. It also brings luck to my life. I like this name.
Many Vietnamese people want to name their children Xuan Son. How do you feel that the name Xuan Son has now become famous among Vietnamese people?
- It's a special feeling. My name became famous, I think maybe because I made the right choices, I worked hard. I always do what I think is right. I feel very happy and surprised when someone wants to name their child after me. I hope that name will bring luck to the children.
Fans are very worried about your injury and mental health. Can you share more about your current situation?
- I think life always has ups and downs, good things mixed with bad luck. But I always tell myself to keep moving forward, because that's how life works, we have to accept it. Even though I'm in pain, I always smile when fans or someone asks me. That's who I am, my personality. I'm friendly to everyone and simply want to show a part of myself.
Before, few fans knew me, but now there are many. I am very happy, people give me many gifts and always support me everywhere. I just want to say thank you everyone, I am happy to always be loved by the Vietnamese people.
Someone said they wanted to give you free braised fish when you were discharged from the hospital. Would you be happy if they also gave you free fried bananas for a year?
- Fried bananas are my favorite. I love this dish, I fell in love with it from the first time I ate it. If I could really eat fried bananas for free for a year, I would eat them every day. I'm very happy, thank you everyone for your affection.
How will your life and your family's life change after the ASEAN Cup 2024 ends?
- A lot of changes have come to our lives after I became more famous. I know that after the ASEAN Cup, people love me and my family more than ever. Everyone supported us a lot, from the national team to when I was in the hospital. I feel very happy and grateful to everyone. Currently, my family and I feel comfortable with life here.
So can the ASEAN Cup 2024 be considered a turning point in Xuan Son's life, in terms of career, popularity and treatment?
- Of course, the tournament has changed my life in many ways. A lot of good things have come to me, fame, the love of fans, and many sponsors have come to me. But I will not let them distract my focus, because my number one priority is still football. I have to try for my football career first, other things are just secondary factors.
If you choose 3 things Xuan Son loves most in Vietnam, what would they be?
- The thing I love most is probably the life here. I love living in Vietnam. The second thing is the Vietnamese people. Everyone loves us and is willing to help. The third thing I love about this country is tourism. Vietnam has beautiful destinations and I love everything here.
My favorite city is probably Da Nang. I was in Da Nang for a year before and I have many friends here. I like the food, the people and I had a great time.
He will temporarily rest to recover from his injury. What will Xuan Son do during his time away from football?
- I think I will try to learn and improve my Vietnamese. Maybe I will spend time with my family and friends. After that, I will try to do some rehabilitation and physical therapy so that I can return to football soon.
Xuan Son and his family's journey from Brazil to Vietnam has been known to many fans, many people love him for his inspirational story. How do you personally view that journey?
- My journey to Vietnam was quite difficult, but there were also many beautiful things. I started playing football since I was a child, and now I am very proud to have such a special career. I play football in a wonderful country and am loved by everyone. I am very happy, extremely proud to play football for the Vietnam National Team with the Nam Dinh Steel Club. What a perfect journey!
