From a wild destination, Trang Waterfall is becoming a tourist destination that many tourists are looking for, bringing with it the hope of awakening local potential and opening up a new development direction for local people.
The masterpiece of nature
Trang Waterfall is a natural waterfall located in Trang Ta hamlet, Nhan My commune (Tan Lac). From Hoa Binh city, it only takes about 1 hour to travel to explore this majestic waterfall. The waterfall is located at the foot of the Truong Son mountain range, only about 300m from the main road. The waterfall flows in the middle, dividing the terraced fields of Trang hamlet into two halves.
The waterfall is divided into 3 floors, each floor is a few dozen meters apart. Upstream, the waterfall is about 5-6 meters high, below is a "natural swimming pool" wide enough for dozens of people to swim. The second waterfall is lower, only about 3 meters high. At the end of the river is the most beautiful waterfall, with many steps, especially the swimming pool is quite spacious. Above this waterfall, there are ancient trees hundreds of years old, spreading out to spread shade.
During the peak summer of 2024, the Moon Waterfall welcomes hundreds, thousands of visitors every day, especially on weekends. At that time, many people set up campes and rented seats. If tourists have a need to eat on the spot, people will serve traditional dishes with many local specialties.
This year, visiting Trang Waterfall in early May, visitors can see that tourism services have been developed systematically and organized more. Ms. Bui Anh Ngoc, Man Duc town, Tan Lac district has experienced Trang waterfall for many years.
Returning to the beginning of this summer, Ms. Ngoc was impressed by the pristine features of the scenic spots and the changes in the way people travel.
I have experienced Moonfall at many other times of the year. In the dry season, flood season or the time when the rice is ripe, everything is very beautiful. Now that people are in tourism and have many accompanying services, I am very happy to bring friends to experience the beauty of my hometown, Ms. Ngoc shared.
Currently, around the Trang waterfall area, there are about 30 camps and nghi boats built to serve customers for drinking and resting. Households take advantage of local wood, bamboo, and rattan to build shelters, creating a close space, suitable for community tourism style.
Mr. Bui Van Hoang, Trang Ta hamlet, formerly an employee of the electricity industry, has quit his job to work in tourism for the past two years. According to Mr. Hoang, Trang Waterfall has a water source that flows all year round, feeding many generations of people in Trang hamlet. He and his people are always proud of this landscape.
Nowadays, locals are even happier because Moon Waterfall is known to many tourists. Thanks to that, chickens, pigs, vegetables, and tubers that were previously brought to the market for sale now they are kept to serve customers.
Thanks to the abundant water and coolness all year round, in this Muong village, people dig up many fish ponds. In particular, they not only successfully raised the king poultry - green dam fish - but also "catched" this fish to breed right in their ponds.
Peaceful Muong village at the foot of Truong Son range
Trang residential area is home to over 80 Muong households. This place still preserves traditional stilt houses. More than 10 years ago, people's lives were still difficult, and roads were still difficult. However, in recent years, through the new rural construction program, essential infrastructure has been invested quite synchronously. That is a favorable condition for local people and tourists to experience and explore the scenic spots of Trang Waterfall.
Not only can you cool off in the air, but at the Moon Waterfall, visitors also have the opportunity to explore the cultural life of the Muong people here. The stilt houses are built on a steep hill, with a concrete road running around, making it an ideal route for visitors to walk and explore Muong village.
The name Moonfall comes to tourists not through huge promotional campaigns, but through natural photos shared on social networking platforms.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Anh, a tourist from Hanoi, said: I learned about the Moon Waterfall through friends sharing photos online. It only takes about 2 hours by car to reach this scenic spot. The first impression was the beautiful scenery, cool water and hospitable and friendly people. A worthwhile experience.
In the Trang Waterfall area, Mr. Bui Van Vinh is one of the households that have just invested in building a hut to serve tourists. With 2 hutts, Mr. Vinh is expected to serve about 50 seats for customers to eat and drink.
Mr. Vinh said that since the beginning of May, tourists have started to flock in more. To serve customers attentively, we have prepared food, seats and are ready to guide visitors to travel, explore Trang Waterfall as well as unique locations in the commune.
In addition to Trang Waterfall, in Nhan My commune, there is Thung Vong Waterfall in Khi hamlet - another potential destination just a few kilometers from Trang Waterfall, capable of creating an attractive series of ecological - cultural experiences for tourists. Here, a number of homestays have also been developed to serve tourists with accommodation needs. Just a few dozen kilometers away from this scenic spot, visitors can continue their journey to explore Muong with some other famous places such as: Mu Waterfall (Lac Son District), Lac village (Mai Chau)...
Mr. Bui Van Tan - Vice Chairman of Nhan My Commune People's Committee - said: In 2024, the number of visitors to Trang Waterfall will be very large. After the end of the 2024 tourist season, the Trang Waterfall Service and Tourism Cooperative was established.
This is a very important step for the commune to effectively exploit tourism in this provincial-level scenic spot. The commune will continue to call for investment, especially restoring traditional cultural features, developing local specialties to serve tourism at the scenic spot of Trang Waterfall more effectively.
From a "hiding" waterfall in the middle of mountains and forests, Trang Waterfall is gradually transforming, not only a cool destination for summer days but also a place to arouse the confidence and pride of the Muong community in the identity of their homeland. A "white silk strip" not only flows in the midst of majestic nature, but also imbues with the desire to rise from indigenous tourism.
