Official match opportunity in the National Team
When this article appeared on the same page, setter Vi Thi Yen Nhi was gradually approaching the final matches with the Hanoi women's team at the VTV9 - Binh Dien Cup (the tournament closed on May 23). Also immediately after the tournament in Tay Ninh, Vi Thi Yen Nhi was gathered to practice with the Vietnamese women's volleyball team preparing to compete in the AVC Cup 2026 in the Philippines. Yen Nhi is one of the 14 players called up by head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet this time.
This year, Yen Nhi entered her 24th birthday. However, she had many opportunities to train the Vietnamese youth women's volleyball team and the Vietnamese women's volleyball team through many stages before. Even at the important time of preparing forces for SEA Games 33 last year, Vi Thi Yen Nhi was named in the list of 20 players of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.
When shortening the list, Yen Nhi missed the opportunity to participate in SEA Games 33. However, the gathering in the first phase of 2026 is considered the second time Vi Thi Yen Nhi is definitely included in the list of 14 players of the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team competing in an official international tournament.
3 years ago, Yen Nhi was given the opportunity to participate in the second leg of the SEA V.League 2023 tournament held in Thailand. This is the first time this setter has been concentrated in the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team and also received an official spot in the 14-member squad.
Every time I gather with the National Team, it is meaningful to me. I never lose focus in training because I understand very well about professional competition. If players do not have good spirit and form, the coach will never choose them," Yen Nhi once confided.
The 2026 season started quite smoothly for Vi Thi Yen Nhi. She received the trust of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet to play the main setter role in the Hanoi Women's Volleyball Team. This team won 7 matches, ranking first in round 1 of the 2026 National Championship. Next, the Hanoi Women's Team won the Hung Vuong Cup 2026. Yen Nhi is one of the people who contributed professionally to that result. Not only from a professional perspective, Vi Thi Yen Nhi is also the captain of the Hanoi Women's Team.
Waiting for results from the national tournament
At the final round of the 2025 National Volleyball League A, Vi Thi Yen Nhi and the Hanoi Women's Team won the championship cup to win the right to participate in the 2026 National Championship. At the stadium in Ha Tinh at that time, Yen Nhi cried emotionally and expressed after the victory of her team: "This is a victory that we have made great efforts to prepare. I am happy that my team has been promoted. 2026 will definitely be difficult because we will be a rookie team, but the whole team will have to try their best to play," Yen Nhi's humble expression.
After a year, the Hanoi Women's Team has had professional innovations, but her setter position is still the most important. "I only keep in mind one thing, that the team is a collective. The setter player or other positions must be in sync to score well," Yen Nhi confided further.
In terms of experience, Yen Nhi is one of the most mature players in the Hanoi women's volleyball team at this time. In her professional journey, Yen Nhi once won the National Championship in 2023. This is the time when Vi Thi Yen Nhi played for the LPBank Ninh Binh women's team.
The tournament above has been a memory for Yen Nhi to never forget. She was assigned the role of main setter in the LPBank Ninh Binh team and showed the best form. When the team overcame opponent Hoa Chat Duc Giang in the final of the season, Yen Nhi personally burst into emotions because she completed her personal goal of winning the National Championship once in her career.
After 3 years, the memories of winning the National Championship in 2023 are closed by Vi Thi Yen Nhi. She is wholeheartedly playing for her Hanoi club to aim for the highest position in the 2026 National Club Championship. After the matches in Dong Anh (Hanoi) in round 1 of the 2026 National Club Championship, Vi Thi Yen Nhi is the focus that many reporters want to interview the most.
However, the female volleyball player of Hanoi modestly said that everything is still a long journey ahead, so she will strive to achieve the highest form through each match. In October this year, Yen Nhi and Hanoi women's team will return to play in the 2nd round of the 2026 National Club Championship to determine the final position in this year's season.
Vi Thi Yen Nhi is originally from Lang Son, born in 2002. She has had nearly 10 years of high-achievement volleyball training and competition. She once shared that she came to volleyball by chance when she was discovered in the Phu Dong Health Festival athletics competition program in Lang Son province.
At that time, Yen Nhi competed in the high jump of athletics. After the coaches recognized that Yen Nhi's height was suitable for volleyball and persuaded her family to agree to let her daughter pursue an athlete career, this hitter officially became a volleyball player (in 2016).
Yen Nhi is a player who received basic technical training at the Hanoi Women's Volleyball Team. However, she accumulated experience when she was loaned to play for the Bac Ninh and Ninh Binh Teams.
