On the afternoon of July 11, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation and the Xieng Khouang Provincial Trade Union Union (Laos) jointly organized a seminar to exchange trade union activities experiences.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Kha Van Tam gave an overview of the socio-economic development situation of Nghe An province, the process of arranging administrative units and organizing the apparatus according to the 2-level local government model.
According to the Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation, the process of arranging the organizational structure has created many changes for the trade union system, from operating areas, direction methods to the assignment of officials and organization of activities to care for union members and workers.
Faced with new requirements, trade union levels in Nghe An province are focusing on consolidating organization, innovating content and methods of operation, strongly focusing on grassroots levels, and promptly grasping the thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers.
The Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation also focuses on developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions; improving the quality of dialogue, collective bargaining and participating in solving issues related to employment, wages, and working conditions.
Mr. Kha Van Tam also shared some contents about the financial mechanism of the Vietnam Trade Union, the management and use of trade union financial resources and the requirement to ensure funding for activities to care for, represent, and protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
At the program, Mr. Kham La Keo Da Van - Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Xieng Khouang Provincial Trade Union Union thanked the solemn and thoughtful reception of the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation; and at the same time provided general information about the socio-economic situation and trade union activities in Xieng Khouang province.
Currently, Xieng Khouang has 15 directly affiliated trade union units, 433 grassroots trade unions with 9,442 union members. Trade union levels focus on propaganda, political and ideological education; training and fostering cadres; protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers and organizing emulation movements.
According to Mr. Kham La Keo Da Van, the process of consolidating the organization and changing personnel in charge of trade unions is posing many new requirements, while the funding and facilities for operations are still limited.
The Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Xieng Khouang Provincial Trade Union Federation wished that the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation would continue to pay attention to and coordinate in organizing training and fostering classes to improve the capacity of the contingent of trade union officials of Xieng Khouang province; and at the same time support some equipment and facilities to serve trade union activities.
At the seminar, the two sides focused on exchanging experiences on caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers; developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions; policies on occupational safety and health.
On this occasion, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation presented the Xieng Khouang Provincial Trade Union Union with 2 laptops, contributing to supporting working conditions and trade union activities.
