On the afternoon of August 5, player Tran Quyet Chien won the 2nd round of the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) Billiards Tournament held in Ho Chi Minh City after defeating his junior Dinh Quang Hai.
In the final match, Tran Quyet Chien and Dinh Quang Hai played to earn points through each holding position. With the ability to predict accurately, Quyet Chien won convincingly 50-41 to win the championship. The achievement is an encouraging result that helps players confidently aim to conquer the 2025 World Games.
It is expected that on August 7, Tran Quyet Chien will go to Chengdu (China) to participate in the 2025 World Games. The Vietnamese billiards team has two players Tran Quyet Chien (3 men's carom) and Phung Kien Tuong (3 women's carom) participating.
Tran Quyet Chien competed in the 2017 World Games (stop in the quarterfinals) and the 2022 World Games (stop in the quarterfinals). This year, the goal of Vietnamese players is to strive for the highest results.
The men's 3-cushion carom event at the 2025 World Games will compete in the qualifying round on August 10 and 11, then branched off based on the rankings to continue the quarter-finals (August 12). The semi-final round will take place on August 13 and the championship final will be held on August 14.
Tran Quyet Chien will not participate in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand due to the lack of carom 3. The player won a gold medal in this event at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam.
