On the afternoon of January 18, the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Can Tho City announced the list of exam results and rankings of the national high school exam for excellent students in the 2024-2025 school year.
According to the results, the Examination Council selected 3,803 winners, accounting for 58.68% of the total number of candidates taking the exam.
Can Tho alone won 46 prizes; including 1 First prize, 6 Second prizes, 20 Third prizes and 19 Encouragement prizes. Of which, 1 First prize went to a student from Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted in History (16,750 points); 6 Second prizes went to 5 students from Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted (Biology, Informatics, Literature, Geography, French) and 1 student from Chau Van Liem High School (Informatics).
The national high school exam for excellent students in the 2024-2025 school year will be held on December 25 and 26, 2024. Nationwide, there will be 6,482 candidates taking the exam, an increase of 663 candidates compared to the 2023-2024 school year.
Candidates took the exam at 68 examination councils with 13 subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, and Japanese. This year, for the first time, Japanese was included in the exam.
Of which, Can Tho City has 100 candidates taking the exam in 10 subjects, including: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, English, French, Literature, History and Geography, an increase of 40 students compared to the previous school year. This is the largest group of excellent students ever in the city.
Previously, in the 2023-2024 national high school student competition, Can Tho had 30 prize-winning candidates, including 7 second prizes, 11 third prizes, and 12 consolation prizes. The prize-winning candidates all came from Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted.
According to the plan, in March 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize an exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in regional and international Olympics in 2025, for the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics.
