Towards integrated, interdisciplinary teaching
In the 2024-2025 school year, the 2018 General Education Program will be implemented in all grades. However, the training of excellent students will have many differences compared to before to suit the new program.
Sharing with Lao Dong, Master Huynh Ngoc Huy Tung - teacher at Tan Long High School (Hau Giang province) - said that training excellent students according to the 2018 General Education Program this year will increase the practicality of the exam questions, this is also the inevitable trend of the times and the progress of current education.
“With many years of experience in training excellent students, I have identified the necessary content and factors to ensure the requirements of this year's excellent student exam, especially for the subject of Math that I am teaching,” said Master Tung.
Master Tung stated that teachers who teach and foster gifted students must have a long-term plan, a new approach, especially providing them with extensive knowledge to teach integrated and interdisciplinary subjects to maximize the learners' capacity, helping them master knowledge and solve practical problems well.
On the other hand, through professional group/team activities in schools, school clusters or the Department of Education and Training (DET), teachers in related subjects have more conditions and are more proactive in coordinating and supporting each other to gradually improve their professional capacity, meeting the requirements of educational innovation.
“At the educational institution where I am working, the school's Board of Directors has planned very early, implementing the content of teaching and training excellent students in previous meetings with many activities such as: supporting learning resources, assigning experienced teachers, letting students register for subjects and then taking exams to filter and form teams for each subject, directing professional groups to observe classes and regularly gain experience... Currently, teachers are reviewing and training students 2 sessions/week/subject", Master Tung shared more.
The important thing is to practice courage.

Mr. Hung said that the school's team of excellent students has been trained in advance, ensuring knowledge and skills, the important thing is to train them to be brave enough to take the exam. In 3 months (from now until the end of December), the school and teachers will focus all their efforts on training the students for the exam subjects.
