The opening ceremony was connected to the opening program nationwide, broadcast on VTV1. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Phan Van Thang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province, along with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, provincial leaders and a large number of officials, lecturers, and students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Thang highly appreciated DTHU's contributions in training human resources for the province and the Mekong Delta region. In the new development requirements, he proposed that the school continue to link training with practical needs, promote science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. According to Mr. Thang, the province identifies DTHU as a place to train high-quality human resources, and at the same time aims to become a startup center, transferring and applying scientific and technological results to serve socio-economic development.

At the ceremony, Dr. Truong Tan Dat - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of DTHU - sent congratulations to the new students, and emphasized the requirement to proactively study, train and adapt to the rapid changes of technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI). With the reception of nearly 6,000 new students, the total scale of regular students of DTHU has increased to nearly 20,000 people.
According to Mr. Dat, in the 2026-2027 school year, DTHU continues to innovate training, promote digital transformation, improve the quality of human resources, towards the goal of "Building knowledge - Serving the community".

On this occasion, the school awarded 20 scholarships, each worth 1 million VND to new students. The school commended students who were admitted through direct admission and had high achievements in the entrance exam; each student was awarded a laptop. Doan Pham Thien Nhi is the valedictorian of the entrance exam to Dong Thap University with a total score of 28.97, studying Music Pedagogy. Thien Nhi once won the first prize in the provincial excellent student exam in Literature and achieved 9.5 points in Literature in the high school graduation exam.

Before the opening ceremony, the school's Association for Promoting Education awarded 106 scholarships to students and 4 Lao students studying at the school, with a total value of 212 million VND. PVcomBank also awarded a sponsorship package of 1.73 billion VND for education and student support activities, including a digital banking practice room.

At the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Thang and Dr. Vo Van Son were awarded the Third-class Labor Medal; 7 individuals of the school received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister. The school also expressed gratitude to Meritorious Teacher. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van De - former Secretary of the Party Committee, former Principal - for 46 years of attachment and contribution to the school's development. He and his family presented scholarships worth 10 million VND to students.
