On the morning of March 14, the Conference on Culture, Society and Humanities towards Sustainable Development took place at Can Tho University. Mr. Jonathan Baker - Chief Representative of UNESCO in Vietnam; scientists, researchers, experts from domestic and international institutes... attended the conference.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung - Vice Rector of Can Tho University - said: The conference takes place in the context that our country is focusing on implementing Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026 of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture. This is a breakthrough document, affirming that culture is the spiritual foundation, the goal and the most important endogenous driving force for development.
With that spirit, the conference is not only a purely academic forum, but also a specific action to concretize the views and objectives of Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW into research and teaching practice.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung acknowledged: "Sustainable development is not only based on economic growth indicators or technological achievements, but the core also lies in human values, cultural foundations and social stability.

In recent decades, sustainable development has become a central goal in the development strategy of many countries and international organizations. Economic, industrial and environmental solutions, the fields of social sciences and humanities are increasingly seen as an important foundation to help explain the changes of contemporary society, preserve and promote cultural values; orient development policies in accordance with the context of each country and region.
The Mekong Delta is one of the important economic and cultural regions of Vietnam and is a region facing many major challenges in the development process such as climate change, socio-economic shifts, cultural identity preservation and sustainable development of local resources.
With the role of an important training and scientific research center of the Mekong Delta region, Can Tho University always focuses on promoting research activities and international academic cooperation in many scientific fields, including cultural, political science, social and human issues.

Through international academic forums, scientists have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, share research results and discuss issues related to sustainable development in the regional and global context.
More than 260 scientific articles were sent to the Conference, which were independently evaluated, of which 181 high-quality articles were selected for publication. The presentations at the conference will focus on many research topics such as: culture and regional cultural identity; application of artificial intelligence and digital technology in the field of information - library; the role of multimedia communication in social life...
