In the trailer for “The Ghost Lamp”, the audience will see more clearly the story of Thuong, a woman whose husband is away in the army. Because of her love for her children, she accidentally uses the “The Ghost Lamp”. From then on, her life is full of fear and unsolved mysteries.
Director Hoang Nam shared: “The Ghost Lamp” possesses mysterious and supernatural elements, imbued with folklore. We tried to create a story that is not a spiritual horror film, but a journey in search of roots, where spiritual elements serve to convey cultural messages.
The film is not only an entertaining work but also brings a strong message about family values, honoring the role of women in traditional society with spiritual elements imbued with folk culture.
In addition, to bring the best cinematic experience to Vietnamese audiences, director Hoang Nam boldly applied Motion Capture technology - an advanced technique that is rarely used in Vietnamese films, usually only appearing in the advertising field.
With more than 600 VFX shots (the process of creating or adding visual effects to enhance the image quality) in “Ghost Lights”, the production cost increased significantly compared to the estimate. This also partly shows the huge investment of the director and the entire production team.
“The Ghost Lamp” features young and potential actors such as Diem Trang, Tuan Anh, Phu Thinh, Hoang Kim Ngoc, Tuan Mo, Hai Anh. Dinh Khang, Hao Khang… and two veteran faces: Meritorious Artist Quang Teo and Meritorious Artist Chieu Xuan.
The movie will premiere on February 7, 2025 (the 10th day of Lunar New Year).
