Inspired by the folk legend "Oan Hon Hua Thi", the film follows a group of streamers into an ancient villa rumored to be haunted to conduct a livestream calling souls. From here, a series of tragedies take place one after another.
One of the most notable details is the cut-headed doll that the character Nhan accidentally damaged when exploring the house. Thought it was just an old toy, the doll then continuously appeared, haunting the female streamer. At the end of the film, Nhan was beheaded in a similar way to the item she had damaged before.
In the treatment room of the young lady surnamed Hua, Thu took the leather bracelet on the iron chair as a sacrifice in the spirit calling ritual. Immediately after that, many unusual signs appeared on her body. Later, the iron chair itself became a tool to kill this character when continuously chasing and detaining her like the way young lady surnamed Hua was once tied up during her lifetime.
Meanwhile, the detail of Chi's pregnancy also became an important bottleneck of the story. According to the warning of shaman Bach Bach, pregnant women should not participate in the spirit possession ritual. However, this secret was hidden until it was too late. The baby in Chi's womb accidentally became a target for Ms. Hua's soul to approach.
Another haunting detail is the command to constantly tap chopsticks into the bowl during the ceremony. Anyone who stops can be influenced by the soul. Ironically, the female shaman Bach Bach herself becomes a victim when being controlled to repeatedly hit her head in front of the altar until she dies.
Besides, the zither that Dung took out of the stage room also carried a death curse. In the climactic scene, he was strangled by the zither strings to the point of suffocation in the ghostly stage space associated with the unfinished love affair of the young lady Hua.
As of the afternoon of June 12, the movie Lau Chu Hoa grossed 10 billion VND, ranking in the top 3 of the Vietnamese box office.
