The crew of the movie "Mother, Come Home" has just announced the community campaign "1 ticket - 1 hope", towards Vietnam's Day for Agent Orange Victims (August 10th) and the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster (1961-2026).
In addition to the initial contribution of 100 million VND, the project will deduct a portion of revenue from each movie ticket to raise funds to support health care, improve livelihoods and living conditions for families affected by Agent Orange.
Team representative, Production Director and co-screenwriter Ahn Chul Ho said that the campaign originated from the harmony between the story in the film and the fates in real life.
He shared that the character Huy Hoang in the film is a person who suffers many injuries from being abandoned but has been healed thanks to the unconditional love of a Vietnamese mother. According to him, Agent Orange victims are also carrying wounds left by history and need sharing from the community.
The Korean filmmaker expressed hope that the film could become a "comforting embrace", no matter how small, for the victims and their families. He also emphasized that every ticket buyer contributes to creating positive change through the campaign.
Mother, Come Home" tells the story of Huy Hoang (Lee Yi Kyung), a Korean boy who was cared for by a Vietnamese woman named Diem Hanh (Minh Ha) when he was young. After his foster mother passed away, he brought a jar of ashes back to Vietnam to fulfill her wish, and at the same time find his roots and heal the wounds in himself.
