The program "Culture by Design" of ABC Television (Australia) takes viewers to explore Vietnamese art, meet artisans and characters in Vietnam.

On the afternoon of August 19, in Hanoi, ABC Television in coordination with the Australian Embassy in Vietnam organized the launch ceremony of the program "Culture by Design". The program dedicates a part of the content of the second season to explore the creative journey of Vietnamese artists, designers, artisans and architects.

If the first season brought audiences to creators in Indonesia and India, the second season continues to expand its journey to Vietnam, Sri Lanka and some other countries and territories.

In Vietnam, the program crew met many faces working in the fields of fashion design, handicrafts, traditional arts and architecture such as: designer Vu Thao of Kilomet109, artisan Le Viet Cuong of Vun Art, lacquer artisan Dung Di, artisan Phap Lam Do Huu Triet...

From creative workshops and craft spaces, the program records how Vietnamese creators seek a balance between tradition and contemporary thinking.

When heritage becomes a source of creative inspiration

According to Claire Gorman, representative of ABC Television, "Culture by Design" is built around a seemingly simple but highly suggestive question: "What makes a good design?

In the two seasons of the program, host Anthony Burke and his crew met with more than 40 creators from many countries to find answers.

Through that journey, the crew realized that the selected designs, although different in material, culture and expression, all have a common point: originating from culture, heritage, creating connections between people and aiming for positive changes for the community.

In Vietnam, that story is clearly expressed through people who are looking for ways to bring traditional materials into modern life. These may be patterns, handicrafts, craft techniques passed down through many generations, or indigenous cultural values transformed into new design products.

Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Gillian Bird said that Vietnamese artists and designers are creating new approaches to traditional culture.

In addition to promoting Vietnamese art and culture to international audiences, the event also opens up new cooperation opportunities between Vietnamese and Australian television stations.

The fact that an international television program spends significant time introducing Vietnamese creators shows the increasing attractiveness of Vietnamese culture and art in the global creative flow.

Not only stopping at introducing a handicraft product or an architectural work, "Culture by Design" also brings the audience closer to the story of people, identity and how traditional values are continuing to be created in today's life.

Culture by Design" will be broadcast on ABC Australia and ABC iview platform from August 23, before being broadcast on Vietnam Television channel.
