42 years old, signed a labor contract for the first time
Ms. Bui Thi Hoa (Ha Dong district, Hanoi), born in 1982, suffered from a physical disability after a high fever and seizure at the age of 8. For the past few decades, Ms. Hoa has had to travel by wheelchair.
Starting a family at the age of 36 with a slightly disabled person, Ms. Hoa and her husband were given a apartment in Van Quan ward (Ha Dong district) by her parents-in-law as a home. For many years, Ms. Hoa and her husband have been together, her husband opened a tea shop near Ha Dong market; Ms. Hoa received goods from a company specializing in export embroidery to work at home. The income is enough for them to save to cover their living expenses.
Ms. Hoa said that at the end of November 2024, the Hanoi Employment Service Center coordinated with the Hanoi Association of People with Disabilities to organize a job fair to integrate the recruitment of workers with disabilities. Knowing this information, she went to the satellite parliament in Ha Dong district to apply.
"I went through the interview round and was accepted by a handicraft company right at the job fair. The company gave me the first month of work experience, receiving 80% of my salary; from the second month, I was able to sign a labor contract and fully pay social insurance. Not only me and my wife but also both parents were happy to pass on to us. At the age of 42, for the first time in my life, I was able to sign a labor contract" - Ms. Hoa said emotionally.
At the end of 2024, the Hanoi Employment Service Center coordinated with the Military Department (capital Command) to organize a thematic job fair for demobilized soldiers.
Mr. Tran Quang Tam (from Thuong Tin district, Hanoi) after being discharged from the Information Battalion 610 (Capital Command) attended the meeting and found a job immediately after participating in the interview. "I was accepted by a company specializing in electrical engineering as a technical supervisor, with a starting salary of 9 million VND. The company highly appreciates the style and discipline of the demobilized soldiers, so I quickly had a job opportunity, said Mr. Tam.
Increasing job opportunities for workers
Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center - shared that the organization of mobile and thematic job fairs best supports businesses in finding workers, as well as increases job opportunities for workers.
With job fairs integrating the recruitment of workers with disabilities, it will be very meaningful for disadvantaged workers in society; creating conditions and opportunities for workers with disabilities to access the job market, helping them to be confident, proactively find jobs, learn vocational skills to participate in the labor market - Mr. Thanh said.
Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs Nguyen Tay Nam - said that organizing mobile and thematic job fairs is one of the solutions to promote the development of the labor market. The trading session not only creates an environment to connect businesses and workers, but is also a good opportunity for specific labor forces to access the labor market, provided with labor market information.
Specially thematic sessions such as integration sessions for people with disabilities or sessions for demobilized soldiers will help effectively implement the military rear policy and social security in the area. In the past, the Department has directed relevant units to have practical solutions, proactively orienting the solution of employment for this labor force, which has been responded to by a large number of union members, youth, people and especially demobilized soldiers, said Mr. Nguyen Tay Nam.
According to the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs, in 2025, the city plans to organize 230 job fairs and recruit 20,000 workers through these fairs.
